Mount Marty Women’s Soccer upset the top-seeded Morningside Mustangs last night on penalty kicks in the opening round of the GPAC Tournament.
The match was scoreless through the first 79 minutes before Morningside broke the deadlock. Rhyli Grim was able to answer back for MMU just before the 87-minute mark to tie the game 1-1.
The match remained tied through two overtime periods before the Lancer women were able to win the penalty shootout 3-2 to advance.
The Lancers will face #4 seed Dordt in the GPAC semifinals on Saturday.
Yankton Gazelles Volleyball ended their regular season on a high note last night, defeating Brookings 3-1 in Yankton.
The Gazelles fell behind early, dropping set one 25-20, before claiming the next three sets 25-18, 25-20, and 25-23 for the match victory.
Yankton ends their regular season with an 11-16 overall record and currently occupy a spot in the SoDak 16. Postseason matchups will be finalized after the conclusion of the AA season on November 8th.
Mount Marty Volleyball ended their regular season last night with a 3-1 loss to the College of Saint Mary.
Julia Weber led the Lancers with 18 kills, 21 assists, and 22 digs in the loss. Weber also tied with Caitlin Guenther and Lexi Eichoff for the team-high in blocks with 3 apiece.
The Lancers end the regular season 8th in the GPAC standings. MMU is slated to face top-seeded Northwestern in the opening round of the GPAC Tournament.
South Dakota State Head Women’s Basketball Coach Aaron Johnston will be the featured guest speaker at today’s Yankton Quarterback Club meeting.
Johnston is in his 26th season as SDSU head coach, tallying 628 wins and 13 NCAA Tournament appearances during his tenure.
The meeting will be held at the River Rock Event Center. A meal will be available for purchase beginning at 11:15, with the meeting set to begin at noon. The public is invited to attend.
South Dakota Coyotes Men’s Basketball travels to Omaha, Nebraska, tonight to take on the Creighton Bluejays.
The Coyotes are 0-1 to start the year following a season-opening overtime loss to Utah Tech on Monday.
Tip-off from the CHI Health Center is scheduled for 7:00 PM this evening.
South Dakota State Men’s Basketball has their first home game of the season tomorrow night against Dakota State.
The Jackrabbits are 1-0 to start their season after a 75-66 win over Merrimack earlier this week.
