For the first time in program history, the Mount Marty Lancers have advanced in the GPAC Men’s Soccer Tournament with an upset of top-seeded Northwestern.
The Lancers and Red Raiders played to a 0-0 draw through regulation and two overtime periods, before winning the shootout 5-4.
Esteban Gomez was credited with 9 saves in net for the Lancers. Rylan Eide, Jadon Brits, Sebastian Diaz, Joshua Ndoll, and Rex Chiles all scored during the shootout for MMU.
The Lancers will face off against #4 seed Morningside on Friday in the GPAC Semifinals. Kickoff from Sioux City, Iowa, is set for 7:00 PM.
Mount Marty Football fell to Dakota Wesleyan in the Dakota Railroad Rivalry on Saturday, 44-41 in overtime.
Quarterbacks Connor Drake (DWU) and Rugby Ryken (MMU) combined for 753 passing yards and 8 touchdowns through the air in the high-scoring matchup.
Mount Marty freshman Moshe Richmond led all receivers with 12 catches for 180 yards and 2 touchdowns in the loss.
The Lancers are on the road the next two weeks to conclude their regular season, beginning this Saturday against Morningside in Sioux City, Iowa.
Mount Marty Men’s Basketball went 0-2 in their two games this past weekend in Hillsboro, Kansas.
The Lancers fell to Wayland Baptist on Friday, 76-62. Jake Jensen led the Lancers with 15 points and 6 rebounds.
On Saturday, Tabor College would get the better of MMU 76-68. Sutton Arend led with 18 points and 5 steals. Jake Jensen would record a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
The Lancers return home on Friday for their next game, as they host Valley City State inside Cimpl Arena.
Mount Marty Women’s Basketball is back in action tonight, as they host Ecclesia inside Cimpl Arena.
The Lancer women are 2-0 on the year, following a dominant performance on Friday in which they defeated Trinity Bible College 126-31.

Mount Marty Volleyball improved to 12-14 on Saturday with a 3-0 sweep over the Doane Tigers.
Julia Weber led the Lancers with 11 kills, 20 assists, and an ace in the win. Caitlin Guenther was stellar at the net, recording 6 blocks.
The Lancers conclude their regular season tomorrow night, hosting the College of Saint Mary inside Cimpl Arena. First serve is set for 7:30 PM, pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 7:00.
Yankton Gazelles Volleyball is on the road tonight for their Class AA matchup with the Watertown Arrows.
The Gazelles enter the match 13th in the standings with a 10-14 record. The Arrows are currently #4 in Class AA at 19-8.
First serve is scheduled for 6:30 PM this evening.

- Bloomfield was eliminated by Shelby-Rising City 54-14.
 - Crofton eliminated Johnson-Brock 88-56.
 - Cedar Catholic eliminated Hershey 48-0.
 - Wynot eliminated Mullen 64-13.
 
The South Dakota Coyotes upset #8-ranked North Dakota on Saturday with a 26-21 win inside the DakotaDome.
LJ Phillips Jr once again led the Coyote rushing attack, running for 106 yards and a touchdown. The USD defense forced three turnovers and caused a safety in the win.
USD hosts rivals South Dakota State on Saturday in their next game. Kickoff from Vermillion is set for 3:00 PM.
The South Dakota State Jackrabbits suffered their second straight defeat on Saturday, falling to Indiana State 24-12 in Brookings.
The Jackrabbits put up 441 yards of total offense in the loss, but were only able to find the endzone once on a 27-yard touchdown from Luke Marble to Alex Bullock.
SDSU travels to Vermillion for their next game to take on in-state rivals, the South Dakota Coyotes.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers came up short against the USC Trojans on Friday night, falling 21-17 in Lincoln.
Runningback Emmett Johnson rushed for 165 yards and a touchdown in the loss. Quarterback Dylan Raiola threw for 91 yards and a touchdown before being forced to leave due to injury.
After the game, it was announced that Raiola will miss the rest of the season due to a broken fibula.
The Huskers turn to freshman QB TJ Lateef as they travel to Los Angeles, California, on Saturday to take on the UCLA Bruins. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:00 PM Central.
