Nora and Sabrina Krajewski claimed Conference Championships yesterday, as the Gazelles took 3rd as a team in the ESD Girls Tennis Tournament in Yankton.
Nora took home the top spot in flight 1 singles, with Sabrina placing 1st in flight 2. The sisters would then take the top spot in flight 1 doubles play as well.
Karalyn Koerner and Meagan Scott also shone during the tournament. The duo took 3rd in flight 2 doubles play, with Koerner placing 4th and Scott placing 5th in their singles flights.
Next up for the Gazelles is the Class AA State Tournament, October 9th and 10th in Sioux Falls.
Yankton Gazelles Volleyball fell to Sioux Falls Jefferson last night in a three-set sweep in Sioux Falls.
The Cavaliers claimed the victory 25-20, 25-14, and 25-19. Tyan Beste led the Gazelles with 7 kills, followed by 6 from Nora Schramm. Brenna Elwood, 14, and Alaina Nelson, 11, combined for 25 assists.
The Gazelles return to Sioux Falls tomorrow night to take on Sioux Falls Christian. First serve is set for 7:00 PM.
Mount Marty Women’s Golf placed 4th as a team at the York Fall Invitational Women’s Golf Tournament.
The Lancers shot a 702 as a team, led by Trinity Palmquist, who tied for 9th with a 172. Jaden Kortan and Jada Buse tied for 12th in the event with a 176.
Next up for the Lancers is the Mustang Derby-Morningside Invitational, October 6th and 7th at Whispering Creek Golf Course in Sioux City, Iowa.
Mount Marty Men’s and Women’s Soccer will travel to Seward, Nebraska, tonight for a GPAC doubleheader against Concordia.
The Lancer Men enter with a 2-2-2 overall record, while the women are 5-4 on the year.
The men will kick off first at 5:30 PM tonight, with the women to follow.
Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Soccer ends their regular season tomorrow night with a doubleheader against Sioux Falls Washington in Sioux Falls.
Both Yankton squads enter the game ranked inside the top-8 in Class AA. The top 8 teams will host a first-round playoff matchup next Tuesday.
The Gazelles play first at 4:00 PM tomorrow afternoon, with the Bucks to follow.
Yankton Cross Country travels to South Sioux City, Nebraska, tomorrow afternoon for a competition at the Jeffrey C Dible Soccer Complex.
The girls’ varsity race is scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM tomorrow afternoon, with the boys’ race beginning at 1:30.
Northwestern Red Raiders Head Football Coach Matt McCarty will be the featured guest speaker at tomorrow’s Yankton Quarterback Club meeting.
McCarty is in his tenth season at the helm for Northwestern, having led the Red Raiders to a national title in 2022.
A meal will be available for purchase beginning at 11:15 AM at the River Rock Event Center, with the meeting set to begin at noon. The public is invited to attend.
