Yankton Bucks Football suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday, 49-3 at the hands of the Harrisburg Tigers.
The Bucks’ offense was held under 200 yards for the first time all season in the interclass matchup with the 11AAA Tigers.
Yankton returns to 11AA play this week for their homecoming game against Pierre. Kickoff from Crane-Youngworth Field is set for 7:00 PM Friday night.
Mount Marty Football had their momentum halted by Briar Cliff on Saturday, as the Chargers handed the Lancers their first loss of the season, 34-20.
The Lancers were held to just 178 yards of offense by the Chargers, as MMU were unable to eclipse the 100-yard mark in both rushing and passing.
The Lancers have extended time to regroup before their next game, as they will host Concordia on October 4th at Crane-Youngworth Field.
Mount Marty Volleyball split their two matches in York, Nebraska, on Saturday, defeating Haskell Indian Nations and losing to York.
The Lancers took York to five sets in their first match before falling 3-2. Jaya Wachhotlz had a team high 16 kills, with Caitlin Guenther adding 14 kills and 6 blocks. Julia Weber recorded 51 assists for the Lancers.
Match two of the day was a 3-0 sweep of Haskell. Wachholtz led the team again with 14 kills. Weber recorded 33 assists as well.
The Lancers re-open GPAC play on Wednesday, as they take on the College of Saint Mary in Omaha, Nebraska.
Yankton Gazelles Volleyball hosts the Vermillion Tanagers tonight to kick off Homecoming week at YHS.
The Gazelles are currently 14th in Class AA with a 3-7 record. The Tanagers enter with a 4-8 record on the year.
First serve is set for 6:30 PM this evening. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 6:00 with Brayden Butler on the call.
Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Soccer split their doubleheader with the Harrisburg Tigers this past Saturday.
The Bucks picked up their seventh straight victory, defeating the Tigers 1-0 thanks to a Jack Pedersen game-winner with under a minute to play. Andrew Budig recorded nine saves in the net.
The Gazelles were handed their second loss of the season by the Tigers, 5-0. The Gazelles had not lost since August 21st before Saturday.
Yankton returns home for their next set of matches, as they host Aberdeen Central on Saturday at Crane-Youngworth Field.
Mount Marty Men’s and Women’s Soccer split their GPAC opening doubleheader with Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday in Mitchell.
The Lancer women carved out a 1-0 win over the Tigers, with Avery Kimball scoring the lone goal. Brooklyn McNac kept the clean sheet, recording 9 saves.
The Lancer men were defeated by the Tigers, 13-0. DWU’s Korbinian Rieder and Evan Bolster each had four goals.
The Lancers host Midland on Wednesday in a men’s and women’s doubleheader, beginning at 5:00 PM.
Yankton Bucks Golf placed 4th out of 21 teams on Friday at Lake View Golf Course in Mitchell. Yankton shot a 7-over 295 to take 4th, finishing behind Sioux Falls Lincoln, Mitchell, and O’Gorman.
Eli Larson led the Bucks individually, taking 4th with a 2-under 70 on the day, followed by Kai Cody, who placed 14th with a 74.
Rounding out the Bucks’ scoring were Easton Vellek at 75, Gus Sprakel at 76, Easton Schelhaas at 77, and Brayden Byrkeland at 83.
Next up for Yankton is the Watertown Invitational on Tuesday at Cattail Crossing Golf Course.
Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Cross Country both finished in the top 3 at Friday’s Lyle Moeller Invite in Norfolk, Nebraska.
The Gazelles placed second as a team, placing two runners in the top 10 and three in the top 15. Nora Youmans led the Gazelles with a 4th place finish, followed by Avery Wuestewald in 10th and Abby Johanneson in 12th.
The Bucks picked up a 3rd place finish as a team, led by a 12th-place finish for Harrison Krajewski. Bryton Olson, 16th, and Lucas Feimer, 20th, also placed in the top 20 out of over 60 runners.
The Bucks and Gazelles will host their next competition, taking place next Thursday at Fox Run Golf Course.

The South Dakota Coyotes are back to .500 on their season, following a 42-21 win over Drake on Saturday.
LJ Phillips was a star for the second week in a row for the Coyotes, rushing for four touchdowns and 143 yards. Quarterback Aidan Bouman threw for 226 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Defensively, Mikey Munn recorded two interceptions for USD.
The Coyotes hit the road this week to open conference play, taking on North Dakota State in Fargo on September 27th.
The Nebraska Huskers opened Big 10 play with a 30-27 loss to #21-ranked Michigan on Saturday.
Quarterback Dylan Raiola led the Husker offense, throwing for 308 yards and three touchdowns in the loss. The Wolverine defense held Nebraska to just 43 yards rushing and recorded 7 sacks.
The Huskers have a bye this week, before they host Michigan State on October 4th in Lincoln.
