Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Soccer swept the Brandon Valley Lynx last night in their Class AA doubleheader at Crane-Youngworth Field.
The Bucks started the night with a 2-1 victory, their 4th straight win of the year. Jack Pedersen grabbed a brace in the win, scoring both goals. Joaquin Pulido and Christian Pacheco each recorded an assist.
The Gazelles ended the evening with a 3-2 win. Brandon Valley grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first, but the Gazelles would rattle off three straight goals, as Auvianna Seiler, Josslyn Elwood, and Eden Wolfgram all scored.
The Bucks and Gazelles are off until next Tuesday when they take on the Huron Tigers in Huron.
Yankton Gazelles Volleyball picked up their second win of the season last night, defeating Sioux Falls Roosevelt in a five-set thriller.
The Gazelles fell out of the gate, dropping set one 25-8, but they battled back, taking set two 25-19, set four 25-18, and set five 15-13.
Tyan Beste led the Gazelles, finishing with 12 kills and 11 digs. Brenna Elwood, 22, and Alaina Nelson, 15, combined for 37 assists in the win.
The Gazelles will host Huron next Tuesday in their next game.
Mount Marty Men’s and Women’s Soccer travels to Storm Lake, Iowa, this afternoon for a doubleheader against Buena Vista.
The women are scheduled to open the doubleheader at 5:00 PM with the men to follow at 7:30.
Mount Marty Volleyball continues GPAC play tonight, as they take on the Midland Warriors in Fremont, Nebraska.
The Lancers are 6-4 on the season following a loss to Concordia on Saturday, three sets to none.
First serve is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
Yankton Competitive Cheer and Dance has a home invitational tomorrow at the Summit Activities Center. Competitions begin at 5:00 PM.
Yankton Gazelles Tennis were one win shy of a sweep in their dual with Sioux Falls yesterday, defeating the Roughriders 8-1.
The Gazelles swept doubles play, with Nora and Sabrina Krajewski, Karalyn Koerner, Meagan Scott, and Sienna Cuka all winning in singles.
Next up for the Gazelles is a road triangular next Tuesday against Sioux Falls Lincoln and Mitchell. Matches will be held at Hitchcock Park in Mitchell.
Mount Marty Men’s Golf placed 12th as a team at the Siouxland Invite Golf Tournament, co-hosted by Dordt and Northwestern.
The Lancers shot a three-round total of 926 as a team. Wout Kerkhofs led the Lancers individually, tying for 14th at a 9-over 222.
Next up for the Lancer men is a tournament in Elk Point on Monday, September 15th.
Mount Marty Women’s Golf finished 9th as a team at the Lila Frommelt Fall Classic, which concluded yesterday in Sioux City, Iowa.
The Lancers shot 717 as a team over the two-day event. Abigail Greenhoff led MMU with a 172, tying for 17th in the event. She was followed by Kamri Kittelson, who tied for 22nd at 174.
The Lancer women return to Iowa next week for the Siouxland Invite on September 15th and 16th.
South Dakota State Head Football Coach Dan Jackson will be the featured guest speaker at today’s Yankton Quarterback Club meeting.
Jackson is 2-0 in his first season at the helm, leading the Jackrabbits to a road victory over then #3-ranked Montana State this past weekend.
The meeting will be held at the River Rock Event Center. A meal will be available to purchase beginning at 11:15, with the program starting at noon. The public is invited to attend.
