At Monday night’s Yankton City Commission Meeting, the 2026 budget ordinance received considerable attention, focusing primarily on Yankton Thrive.
Two different amendments were proposed by Commissioner Brian Hunhoff, which would require more transparency or reduce the city funding of Yankton Thrive. Both amendments failed to pass. Commissioner Ben Brunick proposed an amendment to fund Yankton Thrive for the full amount of $460,000 minus the cost of 7 commissioners who are not already member to receive membership in Yankton Thrive. This amendment failed due to a lack of a second.
