Yankton Post 12 had their 2025 season come to an end on Friday, as they were eliminated from the Central Plains Regional Tournament with a 7-4 loss to West Fargo.
Evan Serck led Yankton at the plate, finishing 2 for 2 in the loss with a pair of RBIs. Easton Feser added a hit and an RBI as well.
Yankton ends their season with a 30-14 overall record, a runner-up finish at the State Tournament, and their first Central Plains Regional appearance in program history.
The Yankton Lakers went 1-1 over the opening weekend of the Class A Amateur Baseball State Tournament, falling to Brookings on Friday, 8-6, before defeating the Black Hills A’s 19-1 on Saturday.
Shugo Kondo led the Lakers on Saturday, finishing with four hits, four RBIs, and four runs scored. Evan Steiner pitched the complete game for the win, striking out six batters.
Yankton will face the Tea Steam on Friday in their next game.
The Wynot Expos lost to the Milbank Firechiefs on Friday, 5-3, in their opening game of the Class B Amateur Baseball State Tournament.
Michael Drotzmann and Peyton Wieseler each had two hits for the Expos, with Lee Heimes recording a pair of RBIs.
The Expos were eliminated with the loss. They end their season with an 11-11 overall record.
The Crofton Bluejays were eliminated from the Class B Amateur Baseball State Tournament on Friday following a 15-2 loss to Castlewood.
Crofton was held to two hits in the loss, one from Connor Merriam and the other by Colton Schieffer.
The Bluejays end their season with a 7-10 overall record.
The District 6B Champion Tabor defeated Wessington Springs on Saturday in their opening game of the Class B State Tournament, 11-1.
Matt Brown led the Bluebirds with four RBIs on four hits. Bryce Scieszinski picked up the win on the mound, striking out nine batters.
Tabor will face Hartford-Humboldt on Wednesday for their next game. First pitch from Brandon is set for 5:30 PM.
The Freeman Black Sox were victorious in their first game of the Class B Amateur Baseball State Tournament, defeating Burke 19-4 in five innings.
Bailey Sage was perfect at the plate for Freeman, finishing five for five with six runs driven in and a pair of runs scored. Rocky Ammann also went five for five with three RBIs of his own.
Freeman will face Dell Rapids in their next game. First pitch is set for 7:30 PM on Wednesday in Brandon.
Wagner, South Dakota native Ashlyn Koupal has committed to the University of Nebraska’s Women’s Basketball program.
Koupal is the #1 recruit in the state in the class of 2026 and is ranked #9 nationally.
Koupal is entering her senior season with Wagner. She was named the Gatorade Player of the Year last year for South Dakota, averaging a double-double at 21.5 points and 10 rebounds, adding 5.2 assists per game as well.
The Huskers are coached by former USD head coach and South Dakota native Amy Williams.
