Yankton Post 12 Legion Baseball was scheduled to take on Brandon Valley last night in a doubleheader, but those games have been postponed due to yesterday’s storms.
No makeup date has been set at this time. Yankton now turns their attention to the Gopher Classic this weekend. Yankton will compete in the Waconia Pool from July 11th through the 13th.
Also in Yankton’s pool will be St Michael Golds (Minnesota), Creighton Prep (Nebraska), Eastview (Minnesota), New Prague (Minnesota), and Waconia (Minnesota).
Ninety-six teams from Minnesota, Nebraska, Wisconsin, South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, Illinois, and Manitoba, Canada, will compete in this year’s classic.
With just under ten days left in the South Central League regular season, Yankton holds a 2.5-game lead ahead of second-place Tabor.
The two teams will face off on Thursday. A win for Yankton would put them 3.5 games clear with only two games remaining, while a Tabor victory pulls them within 1.5 games of first with three games left on their schedule.
Currently, third in the league is Wynot. They will travel to fifth-place Lesterville on Thursday, with three games separating the two teams. Rounding out Thursday’s games will be fourth-place Freeman hosting eighth-place Menno.
Sixth-place Crofton and seventh-place Irene will not have a league game on Thursday. Both teams are set to return to SCL play on Sunday, Crofton against Yankton and Irene in a doubleheader with Tabor. The remaining 2025 South Central League Schedule is available below.
