A DOGE cut to the AmeriCorps RSVP grant program has impacted United Way of Greater Yankton.
Executive Director, Jesse Bailey, says the grant provided United Way with $80,000 annually since 2019, which helped support a Volunteer Engagement Coordinator position at United Way.
Bailey says that position will transition to a part time role in September, and United Way will pursue new funding to sustain the position into the future.
In total, DOGE cut close to $400 million in AmeriCorps RSVP grants, impacting more than 1,000 agencies across the nation.
