Yankton Post 12 Legion Baseball travels to Chamberlain this afternoon for a neutral-site doubleheader against the Rapid City Post 320 Stars.
Yankton holds a 10- 2 overall record so far this season, including a 6-0 record this past weekend en route to the Lewis and Clark Classic Championship.
First pitch of game one is scheduled for 2:00 PM, with game two to follow in Chamberlain.
Crofton pitcher Jack Miller threw a no-hitter yesterday in Crofton’s legion baseball victory over Creighton-Bloomfield-Wausa.
Miller struck out 13 batters in the win. Ian Haberman led Crofton at the plate with a triple, while Nolan Babcock added a double.
Crofton is scheduled to return to the diamond tonight for a road matchup against Pierce.
Yankton’s Easton Schelhaas took home first place in the 16-18 Boys’ Division of the South Dakota Golf Association Junior Tour event on June 5th in Madison.
Schelhaas shot a 75 to win the event, two strokes clear of 2nd place Beckett Rothrock of Sioux Falls.
The SDGA Junior Tour will be in Yankton tomorrow for a competition at Fox Run Golf Course.
Five Members of the South Dakota Coyotes Track and Field team earned Academic All-Summit League honors, announced by the conference yesterday.
For the Coyote women, Sara Reifenrath, Averi Schmeichel, and Cassidy Mooneyhan were selected, with Spencer Buley and Bennett Schwenn representing the Coyote men.
This is the third Academic All-League honor for Reifenrath and Schmeichel, and the second for Mooneyhan, Buley, and Schwenn
Yankton Alumni Lane Sawatzke and Jace Guthmiller tied for third this past weekend at the South Dakota Golf Association’s Two-Man Championship at Willow Run Golf Course in Sioux Falls.
The opening round was contested in a four-ball format, with Sawatzke and Guthmiller scoring a 61. The duo would finish with a 75 in the Chapman round for a total of 136 during the event.
Sawatzke and Guthmiller were six strokes off the winner, Ryan Trasamar and Danny Amundson of Sioux Falls, who shot 129.
