The man accused of a double homicide in Bloomfield appeared in Knox County Court Tuesday morning ahead of his trial in July.
Alias Reed allegedly shot and killed both Curtis Strom and William Reffett at a bowling alley in Bloomfield in February of 2024.
Several motions were heard during Tuesday’s appearance, including the defense’s motion for a change of venue for the trial.
The defense argued that how well-known the victims were in the area and media coverage of the case would not allow for a large enough pool of unbiased jurors for the case.
The prosecution objected to the change of venue, but both councils agreed that the trial would be held in Antelope County if the venue change is approved. No decision has been made at this time.
Also during the proceedings, the court heard from several witnesses regarding the case, including Knox County Sherriff Don Henery, Joseph Thomassen of the Nebraska State Patrol, and Tyler Mann, who is the lead investigator for the case.
Reed is scheduled for a status hearing in Knox County on June 24th, with his trial currently set for the week of July 14th.
