Mount Marty Baseball travels to Sioux City, Iowa, today to take on the Briar Cliff Chargers in the GPAC Championship.
The Lancers earned their spot in the championship game with an 8-5 win over Morningside on Friday. Aiden Chang hit two home runs and had three RBIs in the win.
Briar Cliff claimed their championship appearance on Saturday with an emphatic 16-4 win over Concordia. The Chargers have won fifteen of their last eighteen GPAC games since April 6th.

Yankton Bucks Baseball split their doubleheader with Watertown yesterday, winning game one 7-5 before losing game two 4-1.
Owen Wishon led the Bucks in game one, finishing with two hits and three RBIs. Easton Feser added two hits of his own along with two RBIs.
The Bucks celebrated seven seniors between games yesterday. The seniors honored were Kael Garry, Mark Kathol, Matthew Sheldon, Trey Sager, Owen Wishon, Easton Nelson, and Evan Serck.
Yankton is back in action on Friday, hosting Mitchell at Riverside Field. Game one of the doubleheader begins at 6:00 PM.
Yankton Gazelles Softball recorded twenty runs over two games on Saturday to claim wins over Pierre and Watertown in Sioux Falls.
Yankton defeated Pierre 12-7. Kyra Tjeerdsma went 4-for-5 with five RBIs in the game, while Madison Girard added three hits and three runs scored.
Yankton picked up an 8-5 win over Watertown to end the day. Eliza Gurney finished 3 for 4 at the plate with a pair of doubles.
The Gazelles travel to Vermillion today for a non-ESD matchup with the Tanagers. First pitch is set for 4:00 PM.
Mount Marty Track and Field finished seventh in the Men’s Division and eighth in the Women’s Division at the GPAC Outdoor Championships this past weekend.
Leading the Lancer Men individually was Luke Rettedal. He picked up the only championship of the weekend, winning the shot put with a throw of 53-9 ¾. Jonathan van Lien and Zavio Pratto also claimed a podium finish. van Lien was 2nd in the decathlon with Pratto 3rd in the 400.
For the Lancer Women, Zelie Sorensen and Alexis Even led the charge. Sorensen was 4th in the 100 and 5th in the 200, while Even was 6th in both events. Sorensen and Even placed 3rd in the 400 relay alongside Alexus Motley and Hilaria Rodriguez.
Doane swept the Men’s and Women’s Team titles in the event. The Lancers are scheduled for one last competition before the NAIA Outdoor Championships are finalized. MMU will travel to Seward, Nebraska, for the Concordia Twilight on Friday, May 9.
Yankton Track and Field competed in the 100th Dakota Relays over the weekend at Howard Wood Field in Sioux Falls.
Cale Haselhorst led the Bucks with a 6th-place finish in the boys’ 110-meter hurdles, finishing in 15.28 seconds. The Bucks placed 9th in both the 1600 and medley relays. Abram Chance and Alex Swihart competed in the medley while Connor Slaba and Carson Ness ran the 1600. Evan Serck and Abe O’Brien ran on both relays.
Rozlyn Adamson, Tyan Beste, Burkley Olson, and Auviana Seiler led the Gazelles with a 10th-place finish in the 1600 relay, finishing in 4:06.14. On day one of the relays, Friday, Adamson also set a new school record in the girls’ 100-meter with a time of 12.23 seconds. The Yankton 8th grader breaks the previous record of 12.27 seconds set by Jaiden Boomsma in 2019.
Yankton will host its annual First Dakota Relays on Thursday, May 8th. Events are scheduled to begin with the javelin at 11:30 AM.
Yankton Gazelles Golf placed 3rd at an Invitational at Bakker Crossing Golf Course on Friday, shooting a 378 as a team.
Sabrina Krajewski tied for 3rd individually with an 84. Also for Yankton, Bailey Anderson shot 94, Olivia Woods carded a 98, and Jordyn Cunningham shot 102.
Yankton hosts Mitchell, Sioux Falls Lincoln, and Sioux Falls Jefferson in a quadrangular tomorrow. Tee time at Fox Run Golf Course is set for 10:00 AM.
Yankton Bucks Tennis will be in Mitchell today for matches with the Kernels and the Pierre Governors.
Yankton will face Mitchell at 10:30 and Pierre at 12:30. The Vermillion Tanagers will also compete in the event, but will not face the Bucks.
