Yankton Post 12 stayed alive in the Class A Legion Baseball State Tournament with a 3-2 win in extra innings over Pierre Post 8 yesterday.

 Beck Ryken had the game-winning single in the 9th inning to cement Yankton’s spot in day three of the tournament. Ryken drove in all three runs for Yankton and struck out four batters over eight and two-thirds innings. Tate Beste recorded the final out in the top of the 9th for the win.

With the loss, Pierre is eliminated from the state tournament. Six teams remain as Brandon Valley Post 131 was also sent home after an 11-9 loss to Rapid City Post 22. Yankton will face Renner Post 307 at 1:00 PM today in an elimination game. Coverage on KYNT begins at 12:30.

Class A Legion State Tournament (Day Two Results – 7/30) 

• #1 Rapid City Post 22 defeated #4 Brandon Valley 11-9. Brandon Valley is eliminated from the tournament.
• #2 Yankton Post 12 defeated #6 Pierre Post 8 3-2. Pierre is eliminated from the tournament.
• #5 Renner Post 307 lost to #8 Rapid City Post 320 6-0.
• #3 Watertown Post 17 lost to #7 Harrisburg Post 45 6-3.

 

Class A Legion State Tournament (Day Three Schedule – 7/31)

• #2 Yankton Post 12 vs #5 Renner Post 307 @ 1:00 PM (Elimination Game).
• #1 Rapid City Post 22 vs Watertown Post 17 @ 4:00 PM (Elimination Game).
• #7 Harrisburg Post 45 vs #8 Rapid City Post 320 @ 7:00 PM.

 

The Class A South District Amateur Baseball tournament will take place Friday and Saturday in Yankton, with the Yankton Lakers entering as the #2 seed.

Yankton will play at 8:00 PM tomorrow night, taking on the #3-seeded Sioux Falls Brewers. The top-seeded Harrisburg Woodies will face the #4-seeded Mitchell Aces in game one at 5:30.

• G1: #1 Harrisburg Woodies vs #4 Mitchell Aces @ 5:30 PM.
• G2: #2 Yankton Lakers vs #3 Sioux Falls Brewers at 8:00 PM.

Saturday, August 2nd:

• G3: G1 winner vs G2 winner @ 1:00 PM, winner is District Rep #1
• G4: G1 loser vs G2 loser, loser is eliminated.
• G5: G3 loser vs G4 winner, winner is District Rep #2, loser is eliminated.

 

The District 6B Amateur Baseball Tournament continues today in Wynot, Nebraska, with two games on the schedule.

Lesterville and Crofton will square off first at 6:00 PM. The winner will be either Rep #2 or Rep #3 for District 6B, while the loser will be eliminated.

Irene and Wynot will play in game two at 8:00 PM, after the game was postponed on Tuesday due to inclement weather. The winner will advance to the District Championship against Tabor on Saturday, while the loser will play Freeman tomorrow for a District Rep spot.

• G1: #4 Lesterville defeated #5 Crofton 10-7.

Friday, July 25th:

• G2: #3 Freeman lost to #6 Irene 10-8.
• G3: #2 Wynot defeated #7 Menno 4-0.

Sunday, July 27th:

• G4: #5 Crofton defeated #7 Menno 13-8 (Menno is eliminated).

Tuesday, July 29th:

• G5: #1 Tabor defeated #4 Lesterville 11-8.
• G6: #2 Wynot vs #6 Irene was postponed to Thursday due to the weather.

Thursday, July 31st:

• G6: #2 Wynot vs #6 Irene (Make-up from Tuesday).
• G7: #5 Crofton vs #4 Lesterville (Winner is Rep #2 or #3, loser is eliminated).

Friday, August 1st:

 

• G8: #3 Freeman vs G6 Loser (Winner is Rep #2 or #3, loser is eliminated).

 

Saturday, August 2nd:

• G9: Tabor vs G6 Winner (Winner is District Champ; Loser is Rep #1)

 

Hartington Post 4 earned a spot in the Nebraska State Class C American Legion Baseball Tournament earlier this week, with an 11-1 win over Ponca to take home the Area C-1 Tournament Championship.

Koby Detlefsen led Hartington in the win, driving in four runs while pitching the complete game on the mound. Breiton Whitmire and Dyaln Taylor scored three runs each as well.

The Class C State Tournament will be held in Sutton, Nebraska, August 2nd through the 6th.
