The Yankton Bucks are the 2026 SDAHA Boys Hockey State runners-up, after their 8-3 loss to Rushmore in the championship game on Saturday.
Kaden Hunhoff, Tucker Renken, and Rylan Murphy recorded a goal and an assist for two points each. Luke Moeller made 30 saves in net.
Despite the loss, the Bucks rewrote their own record books, as their second-place finish was the best in program history at the varsity level. The Bucks end their season with an 18-6-1 overall record.
The Mount Marty Lancers went 1-3 this past Friday and Saturday in their four-game series with the Concordia Bulldogs.
The Lancers split their opening doubleheader on Friday, falling 6-2 in game one before taking game two 3-2. Tyler Vance led MMU in the win with two hits and an RBI.
Day two ended with a pair of losses for the Lancers, 9-2 in game one and 7-3 in the series finale.
The Lancers are now 10-14 overall, 1-3 in GPAC play, heading into their next doubleheader on Saturday against Briar Cliff.
Yankton Track and Field opens their season tomorrow with an indoor invitational at the Ruth Donohoe First Dakota Fieldhouse in Yankton.
The Invitational is hosted by Mount Marty University, with events scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM on Tuesday.
Mount Marty Softball opens GPAC play on Wednesday with a home doubleheader against the College of Saint Mary.
The Lancers enter their conference slate with a 7-11 overall record. First pitch of game one from Sertoma Park is scheduled for 3:00 PM on Wednesday.
Mount Marty Men’s Golf returns from their hiatus tomorrow to compete in the Doane Invitational.
The meet will be held at Highlands Golf Course in Lincoln, Nebraska. Tee time is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
The University of South Dakota placed two athletes in the top three of the women’s pole vault on Saturday at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Marleen Mulla earned her 6th All-American honor with a 2nd place finish, clearing 15-1 ½, earning the highest placement of her career.
Anna Willis followed Mulla with a 3rd place finish, clearing 14-11 ½ to earn her second All-American honor.
Willis and Mülla are the first Coyote teammates to place inside the top three at the same NCAA Championship meet at the Division I level.
