Earlier this year, Congressman Dusty Johnson introduced SR.7364, Kamisha’s Law, into the US House of Representative to adjust the statute of limitations for violent crimes on federal land.
The statute of limitations is how long prosecutors have to charge somebody for a crime, which can vary depending on how severe the crime might be.
Johnson talks about why the statute of limitations for murder on federal land needs to be updated because of how we treat that crime differently than other crimes…
Johnson explains how this bill will help bring justice to many victims, and how a Yankton couple is helping to change lives by championing this bill…
Johnson notes that if anyone wants to help support this legislation, please reach out to any member of Congress outside South Dakota that they know to show that support, as the South Dakota delegation is committed to success for this bill.
