A local couple, Roger and Christine Irwin, is working tirelessly to have a new federal law implemented that would impact how violent crimes on federal lands are prosecuted.
Senate Bill 2624 and House Resolution 7364 are known as Kamisha’s Law, after Christine’s 2-year-old daughter was murdered in 1992. These bills are sponsored or co-sponsored by Senator Mike Rounds (R-SD), Senator John Thune (R-SD), Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK), and Congressman Dusty Johnson (R-SD).
