The Yankton Bucks and Gazelles were swept by Sioux Falls Christian last night in their boys’ and girls’ basketball doubleheader.
The Gazelles fell in game one 62-23. Kelsyn Wells led the Gazelles with 9 points. Nora Krajewski added 4 steals.
The Bucks would take the Chargers down to the wire before dropping a 74-71 decision. Jackson Kudera led the Bucks with 21 points, followed closely by Beck Ryken with 19.
The Bucks and Gazelles host Tea Area on Friday for their next games. Friday’s doubleheader will be the final home games of the regular season for Yankton.
The Mount Marty Lancers travel to Seward, Nebraska, tonight for a GPAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball doubleheader against Concordia.
Tonight will be the regular season finale for the Lancer men, while the women will play one final game at home on Saturday against the College of Saint Mary.
The women play first at 6:00 PM, with the men to follow. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 5:15.
Yankton Wrestling coaches Robert Coyle III and Jason Yaggie, and YHS Tennis coach Ryan Hage, will be the featured guest speakers at today’s Yankton Quarterback Club meeting.
Coyle is in his 3rd year as the head wrestling coach for the Bucks, while Yaggie is in his first season at the helm for the Gazelles.
Hage is coming off a 5th place finish for the Gazelles at the state tournament this past fall, and is preparing to lead the Bucks when their season begins on March 27th.
The meeting will begin at noon at the River Rock Event Center in Yankton. The public is invited to attend.
The Crofton Warriors fell to Norfolk Catholic last night, 61-55 in the girls basketball subdistrict C2-5 Semifinals.
Seanna Pinkelman led Crofton in scoring with 22 points in the loss. Jaisie Janssen had 17 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double.
The loss drops the Warriors to 18-7 on the year. Norfolk Catholic will take on top-seeded Ellkhorn Valley in the subdistrict championship tomorrow night.
The Cedar Catholic Trojans advanced to the Girls Basketball Subdistrict D1-4 Championship last night with a 60-41 win over Lyons-Decatur Northeast.
The Trojans will face top-seeded Bancroft-Rosalie tomorrow night in Bancroft, Nebraska. The Panthers earned their spot in the title game with a 63-32 win over Hartington-Newcastle.
South Dakota Coyotes Men’s Basketball returns to the floor tomorrow night to take on the Denver Pioneers. Tip-off from Denver, Colorado, is scheduled for 8:00 PM Central/7:00 PM Mountain.
South Dakota Coyotes Women’s Basketball will host the Omaha Mavericks tomorrow night in Vermillion. Tip-off from the Sanford Coyote Sports Center is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
South Dakota State Men’s Basketball returns home tonight to host North Dakota State in Summit League play. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM at First Bank & Trust Arena in Brookings.
South Dakota State Women’s Basketball travels to Tulsa, Oklahoma, tomorrow night to take on Oral Roberts. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
