A two-vehicle crash near Laurel, Nebraska Tuesday resulted in the fatality of a Vermillion man.
The Cedar County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a 2006 Peterbilt that was hauling scrap iron, was in the south bound lane of Highway 15 and was backing into a driveway on the east side of the highway, when a 2025 Ford Bronco that was traveling north bound collided with the trailer that was being hauled by the Peterbilt.
The driver of the Ford Bronco, Ryan Sevening, 50, of Vermillion was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Peterbilt, Joshua Klausen, 47, of Laurel, was not injured.
Officers that were on the scene are reporting that Sevening was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. It is unknown if Klausen was wearing a seatbelt.
The crash is still being investigated by the Cedar County Sheriff’s Office.
