Mount Marty Men’s and Women’s Basketball were swept by Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday in a GPAC doubleheader.
The Lancer men fell to the Tigers 83-76. Sutton Arend led the Lancers with 26 points and 7 rebounds. Jake Jensen added 17 points and 4 boards.
The Lancer women were defeated 79-50 in their matchup. Lacey Sprakel posted a team-high 13 points.
Both Lancer squads are off until Saturday when they take on the Briar Cliff Chargers in Sioux City, Iowa.
Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Basketball were swept by the Mitchell Kernels last Friday night in Mitchell.
The Kernels defeated the Gazelles in game one 55-37. Eden Wolfgram ended the night with a team-high 10 points.
The Bucks lost 69-53. Owen Eidsness led the way with 16 points, followed by 14 from Jackson Kudera and 13 from Grady Walder.
The Bucks are back in action tomorrow night against Huron, while the Gazelles are off until Friday when they host Watertown.
Mount Marty Indoor Track and Field claimed eight event titles this past weekend at their home meet.
Jonathien Van Lien won the 60-meter hurdles, Zavio Prato won the 400, Cooper Grotenhuis won the triple jump, Samuel Favaretto won the 600, Drake Nemetz won the 1,000, Joseph Cross won the 3,000, and Osiel Cantu, Jet Janvrin, Nemetz, and Tague Tvedt won the 1600 relay. Zelie Sorensen led the Lancer women with a 1st place finish in the 200.
Next up for Mount Marty is a home Invitational and Multi-Event competition beginning on January 16th.
Yankton Gazelles Gymnastics finished third in their session at the Patty Jorgensen Invitational on Saturday in Brookings.
Avery Portillo starred for the Gazelles, winning the floor event with a 9.6 and placing 7th all-around with a 33.375.
Yankton travels to Sioux Falls today for a triangular at Wings Academy against Harrisburg and Brookings.
Yankton Bucks Hockey defeated the Oahe Capitals on Saturday, 5-2 at the Oahe Expo Center.
Yankton trailed 2-0 after the first period, before scoring 5 unanswered to take the win. Jack Pedersen grabbed a hat trick with three goals for the Bucks.
Sunday’s matchup with Oahe was postponed due to an ice issue. Yankton will next take the ice on January 30th when they host Brandon Valley.
Yankton Bucks Wrestling placed third out of eleven teams at Saturday’s Dan Pansch Invitational in Brandon.
Yankton scored 149.5 as a team, led by runner-up finishes from Shayce Platt (165) and Peyton Eustace (215). Ethan Smith (126) and Drace Gaskins (285) both placed 3rd in their classes.
Yankton travels to Bon Homme High School tomorrow night to take on Bon Homme-Avon.
Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Bowling swept West Central on Friday in their matchup at Sport Bowl in Sioux Falls.
The Gazelles are now 7-1 after their 44-6 win. Cadynce Bonzer posted a high series with a 582, while Avery Turner had the best single game at 236.
The Bucks are now 6-2 after their 45-5 win. Christian Weier and Ryan Turner both posted a high game of 235, with Weier tallying a 671 series.
Yankton hosts Sioux Falls Roosevelt on Friday for their next competition at the Yankton Bowl.
South Dakota Coyotes Men’s Basketball defeated the Denver Pioneers 82-72 on Saturday in Vermillion.
Cameron Fens posted a double-double in the win, tallying 23 points and 12 rebounds. Fens added 4 blocks and a steal defensively.
The 9-9 Coyotes are back home on Thursday, hosting Kansas City inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center.
South Dakota Coyotes Women’s Basketball took a 72-65 win over St. Thomas on Saturday in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Angelina Robles and Molly Joyce tied for a team high of 21 points for the Coyotes. Robles also led in assists with 6.
The Coyotes return home on Wednesday for a matchup with the North Dakota Fightin’ Hawks.
South Dakota State Women’s Basketball posted their highest points total of the season on Saturday, defeating Oral Roberts 103-76.
Five different Jackrabbits scored in double figures. Brooklyn Meyer led with 19, Katie Vasecka and Emilee Fox each had 17, Ellie Colbeck had 13, and Maggie Hartwig finished with 10.
The Jackrabbits return home on Thursday to host the Denver Pioneers inside First Bank & Trust Arena.
