Yankton Press & Dakotan Sports Editor James Cimburek has been selected as the South Dakota Sportswriter of the Year by the National Sports Media Association.
This is the second time Cimburek has been honored by the NSMA, originally earning the recognition in 2013.
Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Basketball travels to Vermillion tonight for a doubleheader against the Tanagers.
The Bucks and Gazelles both enter with 1-3 overall records following Saturday’s games against Aberdeen Central.

The Lancers split their doubleheader with Morningside over the weekend, as the women won 67-58 while the men lost 86-63.

Yankton Gazelles Gymnastics took 1st place last night in their home triangular, posting a season best 137.45.
Yankton swept the top four spots in the all-around competition, led by a 34.55 from Burkley Olson. Avery Portillo (2nd), Marrisa Byrkeland (3rd), and Ellie Drotzmann (4th) rounded out the top four.
Next up for Yankton is the Brooking Invitational on Saturday at 10:00 AM.
Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Wrestling have their first home meet of the season this afternoon, hosting Pierre and Brookings.
Matches are scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM at Yankton High School.
South Dakota Coyotes Men’s Basketball travels to St. Paul, Minnesota tomorrow night to take on St. Thomas.
Tip-off between the Coyotes and the Tommies is scheduled for 8:00 PM.
