Yankton Bucks Basketball picked up their first win of the season on Saturday, defeating Aberdeen Central 68-35.
Jackson Kudera led the Bucks with a game-high 21 points and 4 assists. Beck Ryken and Grady Walder also cracked double figures with 10 points each.
The Bucks return to action tomorrow night to take on the Vermillion Tanagers in Vermillion as part of a boys and girls doubleheader.
Yankton Gazelles Basketball fell to Aberdeen Central on Saturday, 76-51 in Aberdeen.
Eden Wolfgram led the Gazelles with 19 points, 3 assists, and 4 steals. Jordyn Kudera added 10 points for Yankton.
The Gazelles return to action tomorrow night to take on the Vermillion Tanagers in Vermillion as part of a boys and girls doubleheader.
Mount Marty Men’s Basketball was defeated by the Morningside Mustangs on Saturday, 76-54, in Yankton.
Sutton Arend posted team highs in both points, 12, and rebounds, 9. Jake Jensen followed with 10 points and 7 boards.
The Lancers travel to Orange City, Iowa, on Wednesday for their next game against Northwestern.
Mount Marty Women’s Basketball returned to the court on Saturday with a 67-58 win over Morningside.
Four different Lancers scored in double figures, led by 14 from Lacey Sprakel. Alexus Motley added 13, with Alexis Folkers and Leah Williams recording 11 each.
The Lancers travel to Orange City, Iowa, on Wednesday for their next game against Northwestern.
Yankton Gazelles Gymnastics fell to the Harrisburg Tigers in their dual last Friday, 148.66 to 132.95.
Marissa Byrkeland was the top Gazelle and placed sixth all-around at 33.35. Aubrey Ploof earned third place and was the top Gazelle in vault at 9.25. Ellie Drotzmann and Emma Gobel led the Gazelles on bars and tied for seventh place at 7.9.
Drotzmann also led the Gazelles on beam and placed sixth at 8.150. Avery Portillo placed fifth in the floor exercise at 9.35.
Yankton hosts Madison and Huron this evening at River City Gymnastics and Cheer. Events begin at 5:30 PM.
Yankton Gazelles Wrestling took 7th out of 37 teams at the McCook Central-Montrose Invitational girls’ wrestling tournament, Friday in Salem.
Yankton scored 82 points on the day, led by runner-up finishes by Alexis Brenden (120) and Winry Yaggie (145). Jaclyn Kyte (135) and Peyton Kyte (140) each finished sixth for the Gazelles.
Yankton opens the home portion of its schedule tomorrow afternoon, hosting Brookings and Pierre. Start time for the triangular is 4 p.m.
Yankton Bucks Hockey went 3-0 over this past weekend to extend their win streak to 5 straight.
The Bucks won back-to-back games against Sioux Falls West on Friday and Saturday, 4-1 and 4-2, before completing the weekend with a 12-1 win over Sioux Center on Sunday.
The 8-2 Bucks are currently 3rd in the standings, with their only losses coming to the undefeated Rushmore Thunder.
Yankton will take on the Oahe Captials in their next game on Saturday, January 10th at the Oahe Expo Center.
