Yankton Bucks Basketball fell to 0-3 last Friday with a 62-38 loss to the Sioux Falls Lincoln Patriots
Austin Conway and Owen Eidsness tied for the team-high in points with 8, followed by 7 each from Beck Ryken and Jackson Kudera.
The Bucks are now off until the new year, when they host Aberdeen Central on January 3rd.
Mount Marty Women’s Basketball picked up an 80-42 win over Nelson University on Saturday in Phoenix, Arizona.
Kaela Martinex shot 6 for 8 from beyond the arc to lead MMU with 20 points. Leag Williams followed with 11 points, while Alexus Motley had 10.
The Lancers are now 9-5 on the year. They will take on Arizona Christian today in Glendale, Arizona, in their final game of 2025.
Yankton Bucks Hockey went 2-0 this past weekend with a pair of dominant wins over Brandon Valley and Huron.
The Bucks started on Friday with a 9-1 win over the Ice Cats in Brandon, before traveling to Huron to defeat the All-Stars 11-1.
Tucker Renken starred over the two games, recording 9 total points with 3 goals and 6 assists. Rylan Murphy had a team-high 5 goals over the weekend, with 4 coming against Huron. In net, Luke Moeller stopped 37 of 39 shots faced for a .949 save percentage.
The now 5-2 Bucks have back-to-back games against Sioux Falls West when the calendar turns to January. The Bucks and Flyers will square off in Sioux Falls on January 2nd and in Yankton on January 3rd.
Yankton Bucks Wrestling placed 2nd out of 7 teams on Saturday at the Sioux Falls Washington Invitational.
Yankton took home 1st in four different weight classes, Damian Janish at 120, Brooks DeLozier at 126, Shayce Platt at 175, and Edly Amaro at 215. Peyton Eustace (215) and Zane Portillo (157) came 2nd in their classes.
Next up for the Bucks is their home opener on January 6th against Brookings and Pierre in a triangular.
Yankton Gazelles Wrestling took 2nd place as a team at the Cossack Avalanche girls’ wrestling tournament, Friday in Volga.
Yankton’s Chloe Caton (115) and Alexis Brenden (120/125) each won titles for the Gazelles.
Winry Yaggie was second in the 145/155 division, as was Jaclyn Kyte in the 135/140 division. Peyton Kyte was fourth, and Sofia Delgado was fifth at 135/140/
Yankton is off until Jan. 2, when the Gazelles travel to Salem for the McCook Central-Montrose Invitational.
Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Bowling swept Sioux Falls Jefferson last Friday night at the Yankton Bowl.
The Gazelles claimed all 50 points in their matchup, picking up their 6th win of the season. Leila Barta led Yankton with a 244 high game and a 594 series.
The Bucks were led by Liam Villanueva, who rolled a 255 high game and a 736 series in a 48.5-1.5 victory. Jaxon Parmelee had the highest single game for Yankton with a 258.
The Bucks and Gazelles take on West Central on January 9th for their next competition.
South Dakota Coyotes Men’s Basketball fell to 7-7 on Saturday with a 106-76 loss to Kansas State.
Isaac Bruns led USD with 19 points in the loss, followed closely by 17 from Cameron Fens and 15 from Jesse McIntosh.
The Coyotes host Mount Marty on December 28th before opening Summit League play against North Dakota State on December 31st.
South Dakota State Men’s Basketball fell to the Milwaukee Panthers over the weekend, 88-87.
Jaden Jackson led the Jackrabbits with 23 points. Kalen Garry and Damon Wilkinson added 18 each.
The Jackrabbits travel to Tucson, Arizona, on December 29th for their next game against the Arizona Wildcats.
South Dakota State Women’s Basketball fell to the #2-ranked Texas Longhorns yesterday, 70-51.
Brookly Meyer posted 20 points in the loss. Meyer has eclipsed the 20 point mark in her last three games.
