The Yankton County Commission has decided to make an offer to fill its EMS Director position on a part-time basis.
The position has been filled by Senior Paramedic Troy Cowman since previous director Eric Van Dusen was fired in April.
Yankton County Commission Chair John Marquardt says the county will make an offer to the potential new hire, Jeff Brown, who lives in Elk Point.
Marquardt says if the offer is accepted, Brown would work a minimum of 24 hours a week for the county and would be on a probationary year where the county can move on if they find a full-time director.
The county commission approved the motion with a 3-2 vote. Commissioners Dan Klimisch and Don Kettering voted no.
