Yankton Bucks football ends their season as the Class 11AA runner-up, falling to Pierre on Friday, 56-35 in the state championship.
The game was the highest-scoring ever for an 11AA championship game. Pierre running back Porter Hunsley was named game MVP, scoring five total touchdowns.
For the Bucks, Owen Eidsness brought in two touchdown catches, setting a new school record with 14 this season. Jace Sedlacek rushed for 136 yards and two more touchdowns on the ground.
Pierre claims their 8th state championship in the last 9 years with the win. The Bucks end their season with a 9-3 record.
Mount Marty Football had their season come to an end on Saturday with a 38-14 loss to Midland in Fremont, Nebraska.
Moshe Richmond led the Lancer offense with 66 yards and a touchdown on three catches. Malachy Harts added 53 yards rushing and another score on the ground.
The Lancers end their season with a 4-7 overall record, 3-7 in GPAC play.
Mount Marty Men’s Basketball started GPAC play with an 84-71 victory over the Dordt Defenders on Saturday.
Jackson Edman was dominant for the Lancers, finishing with 19 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Deegan Williams recorded a 10-point 10-assist double-double as well, adding 7 rebounds.
The win over the defending GPAC Regular Season champions improved the Lancers to 2-4 on the year, 1-0 in conference play.
The Lancers travel to Fremont, Nebraska, on Wednesday to take on Midland in a men’s and women’s doubleheader.
Mount Marty Women’s Basketball suffered their first defeat of the year on Saturday, 80-56 at the hands of the #1-ranked Dordt Defenders.
The Lancers were held to under 30% from the field as a team in the loss. Leah Williams led MMU with 12 points.
The Lancers travel to Fremont, Nebraska, on Wednesday to take on Midland in a men’s and women’s doubleheader. The women play first at 6:00 PM.
The Crofton Warriors punched their ticket to the NSAA Football D1 State Championship last Friday with a 28-8 win over Shelby-Rising City.
The 5th-seeded Warriors will face the #3 seed Sandy Creek on Monday, November 24th, in Lincoln for the state championship.

South Dakota Coyotes Football outlasted Southern Illinois 53-51 on Saturday in a five-overtime thriller to wrap up their regular season.
Aidan Bouman threw for 300 yards and 5 touchdowns in the win. Carson Fletcher was the leading rusher for USD with 104 yards on 19 carries. Lorenzo Fenner led all receivers with 6 catches for 130 yards and 3 touchdowns.
USD ends their regular season with an 8-4 record, 6-2 in conference play, winning their final three games of the year, all against ranked opponents.
South Dakota State Football dropped their 4th straight game on Saturday, losing to Illinois State 35-21.
Quarterback Jack Henry threw for 254 yards, 1 touchdown, and 2 interceptions in the loss. Henry was also the leading rusher for SDSU with 41 yards and a touchdown.
The 7-4 Jackrabbits wrap up their regular season on Saturday with a road matchup against North Dakota in Grand Forks.
South Dakota Coyotes Men’s Basketball defeated Western Michigan yesterday, 83-78 in Vermillion.
Freshman Uzziah Buntyn led the Coyotes with 19 points off the bench, adding 3 assists and a steal. Isaac Bruns followed with 16 points, 4 assists, and 4 rebounds.
The win is the 3rd straight for USD as they improve to 3-2. The Coyotes travel to Columbia, Missouri, on Thursday for their next game against the Missouri Tigers.
South Dakota Coyotes Women’s Basketball improved to 5-0 yesterday with a 64-63 win at the buzzer over Idaho State.
Angelina Robles scored 14 points to lead the Coyotes, with her final shot being the game-winner as time expired.
The Coyotes return to the court on Friday to host Valparaiso.
South Dakota State Men’s Basketball returns to the hardwood tonight, as they host Peru State in Brookings.
The Jackrabbits are 2-2 on the year following a pair of losses to Oregon and Northern Iowa last week.
