The Yankton Walmart was evacuated Wednesday night around 9 pm after the Yankton Police Department received a report of a suicidal male allegedly hiding inside the Yankton Walmart, armed and threatening self-harm.
Yankton Police Chief, Jason Foote, says officers responded immediately and began coordinating with Walmart staff to safely evacuate shoppers.
Foote says during the course of the response, officers were able to confirm that the individual described in the report was not at Walmart and not in Yankton.
Foote says officers cleared the store and Walmart staff was allowed to resume operations.
