Several current and former Yankton County Commissioners gathered Tuesday to celebrate the county’s final bond payment on the Yankton County Safety Center.
Current Commission Chair, John Marquardt, credited the county commission back in 2005 for having the foresight to approve the building.
Marquardt says with the Safety Center paid off; the county will shift its attention to a potential juvenile detention addition.
Former Yankton County Sheriff Dave Hunhoff, who was sheriff when the facility was completed in 2008, presented the final payment at the county’s meeting Tuesday night.
