Yankton Bucks Golf sits 5th as a team after day one of the Class AA State Tournament in Rapid City.
The Bucks shot a 311 as a team, one stroke behind 4th place Brandon Valley and four strokes outside of the top-3.
Easton Vellek currently leads the Bucks, tied for 5th individually with a first-round 75, putting him 3-under par. Elijah Larson sits in the top 15 as well, tied for 14th at 77.
The tournament concludes today at Meadowbrook Golf Course in Rapid City. Tee time is set for 9:00 AM mountain, 10:00 central.
There is a new top team in the Class 11AA Football Media Poll, as the Bucks dropped from 1st to 4th after their loss to Stugis last week.
Despite the drop, Yankton still received 2 first-place votes. The Huron Tigers take over the top spot with 19 first-place votes.
Tea Area moved 2nd with Sturgis jumping to 3rd. Pierre rounds out the top 5 with Spearfish receiving votes.
Yankton looks to rebound this week, as they host the Brookings Bobcats on Friday at Crane-Youngworth Field.

Yankton Bucks Soccer travels to Sioux Falls tonight for a first-round playoff matchup with the O’Gorman Knights.
The 9th-seeded Bucks and 8th-seeded Knights met earlier this season, with the Bucks taking a 1-0 win on September 4th.
Kickoff from McEneaney Field at O’Gorman High School is set for 5:00 PM this evening.
Yankton Gazelles Soccer opens the 2025 state tournament with a home game tonight, hosting the Rapid City Central Cobblers.
The 7th-seeded Gazelles shut out the Cobblers 3-0 when the two teams met in August, in what was the second game of the season for both teams.
Kickoff is set for 5:00 PM this evening. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYTNV begins at 4:00 with Brayden Butler on the call.
Mount Marty Men’s Golf is 11th as a team following the opening day of the Mustang Derby in Sioux City, Iowa.
The Lancers shot a 327 as a team, 3 strokes off of in-state rivals Dakota Wesleyan in 10th. Wout Kerkhofs leads the Lancers, as he’s tied for 24th with an opening round 78.
The tournament concludes today in Sioux City.
Mount Marty Women’s Golf is tied for 7th after day one of the Mustang Derby in Sioux City, Iowa.
The Lancers shot 358 as a unit, tying with Briar Cliff on the opening day. Trinity Palmquist leads the Lancers as she is tied for 18th, followed by Abigail Greenhoff, who’s tied for 22nd.
The tournament concludes today in Sioux City.
South Dakota Coyotes Head Volleyball Coach LeAnne Williamson will be the featured guest speaker at tomorrow’s Yankton Quarterback Club Meeting.
Williamson is in her 12th year at the helm for the Coyotes. She has amassed five conference championships, five NCAA Tournament appearances, and a 240-107 record. Williamson has also been named Summit League Coach of the Year three times.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at noon at the River Rock Event Center in Yankton. A meal will be available to purchase beginning at 11:15 AM. The public is invited to attend.
