Yankton Bucks Football begins their 2025 campaign tonight, on the road against the Huron Tigers.
The Bucks are coming off an 8-3 season in 2024, which saw them advance to the Class 11-AA semifinals before falling to the Pierre Governors.
Yankton graduated a majority of last year’s starters, including their starting quarterback, both starting linebackers, their starting running back, and their top two receivers.
Despite the turnover, Yankton reloads with over twenty seniors on this year’s roster, as they look to return to the Dakota Dome and claim their first state championship since 2015.

Mount Marty Football kicks off their 2025 season tomorrow afternoon with a non-conference matchup with Clarke University.

Yankton Bucks and Gazelles soccer swept their doubleheader with Tea Area last night, shutting out the Titans in both matches.
Both of Yankton’s goals came late in the first half, with Josslyn Elwood and Eden Wolfgram scoring to secure a 2-0 win for the Gazelles.
The Bucks marched to a 3-0 win over the Titans, with Christian Pacheco, Jack Pedersen, and Joaquin Pulido all scoring a goal.
The Bucks and Gazelles are off until next Tuesday, when they host Brookings in a doubleheader at Crane-Youngworth Field.
Yankton Gazelles Tennis has a varsity quad today, taking on Brookings, Harrisburg, and Aberdeen Central in Brookings.
The Gazelles are 5-1 to start their season, after they split their triangular with Rapid City Stevens and Watertown.
Yankton will play Harrisburg first at 11:00 AM. The Gazelles will then face Brookings before ending the day against Aberdeen Central with a rolling schedule in use.
Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Cross Country both placed 2nd as a team at yesterday’s season-opening event in Sioux Falls.
The Bucks placed three runners in the top ten individually, led by Harrison Krajewski in third. Krajewski was followed by Bryton Olson in sixth and Luke Feimer in tenth. Abby Johanneson was the lone top-ten finisher for the Gazelles, placing tenth.
Yankton returns to Sioux Falls on September 5th for the Augustana Twilight Meet.
Yankton Bucks Golf placed seventh out of ten teams yesterday, shooting a 322 at the Huron Invitational boys’ golf tournament.
Elijah Larson led the Bucks with a 77, tying for 14th in the tournament. Gus Sprakel followed with an 80.
Next up for the Bucks is the Marchand Cup, as they take on Mitchell on Tuesday at Lake View Golf Course in Mitchell.
Mount Marty Women’s Golf is eighth following the opening round of their home invitational at Fox Run Golf Course.
The Lancers shot a 343 as a team on day one, led by an 80 from Abigail Greenhoff. Morningside leads the tournament with a 300 opening round.
The tournament concludes today at Hillcrest Golf and Country Club with a shotgun start at 10:00 AM.

The South Dakota State Jackrabbits begin their first season under new head football coach Dan Jackson tomorrow night, as they host Sacramento State in their season opener.
The Jackrabbits finished 12-3 last season, advancing to the FCS Playoff semifinals before being eliminated by North Dakota State.
