Yankton Gazelles Volleyball fell in straight sets last night to the O’Gorman Lady Knights in their 2025 season opener.
Yankton led early in multiple sets, but O’Gorman would storm away in the end, winning 25-12, 25-13, and 25-10.
After the match, head coach Tayler Stacey said she told her team to focus on the positives of the match as they move forward.
Yankton hits the road tomorrow for a matchup with Dakota Valley. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Soccer split their doubleheader with Sioux Falls Jefferson last night, with the Gazelles picking up the win and the Bucks losing a close matchup.
The Bucks and Cavaliers were tied at one entering the halftime break, but a second-half breakthrough put the Cavs up 2-1. Yankton falls to 1-3-1 with the loss, while Jefferson remains undefeated at 3-0.
The Gazelles shut out the Cavaliers in their half of the doubleheader, winning 3-0. Yankton improves to 3-1-1 on the season, and is currently ranked 3rd in the Class AA seed points standings.
The Bucks and Gazelles return home tomorrow night for a doubleheader with Tea Area. The Gazelles kick off first at 5:00 PM with the Bucks to follow. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 4:00 with Brayden Butler on the call.
Yankton Bucks Golf placed fourth out of fourteen teams at yesterday’s Pierre Invitational boys’ golf tournament at Hillsview Golf Course.
Yankton shot a 300 as a unit, finishing ten strokes behind first-place Watertown. Yankton placed two golfers in the top ten, as Easton Vellek tied for 4th with an even par, while Kai Cody tied for 6th with a one-over 73.
The Bucks travel to Huron tomorrow for an invitational at Broadland Creek Golf Course. Tee time is set for 10:00 AM.
Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Cross Country has their first meet of the season tomorrow afternoon at Pasley Park in Sioux Falls.
The girls’ varsity race will begin at 4:00 PM, with the boys’ varsity race scheduled for 4:25.
Mount Marty Men’s Golf placed 11th and 13th between their two squads following yesterday’s conclusion of their home invitational.
The Lancer ‘A’ squad improved by 21 strokes on day two, finishing 11th in the tournament. Wout Kerkhofs was the highest individual finisher, placing 25th with a 151.
MMU’s ‘B’ squad placed 13th in the event with a two-day total of 650. Max Glasheen led the team with a 156 for the tournament, followed by Lane Tvedt at 157.
The Lancers travel to Lincoln, Nebraska, for their next contest, as they compete in the Blue River Classic at Highlands Golf Course September 3rd and 4th.
Moun Marty Women’s Golf will open their season tomorrow, beginning a two-day home invitational in Yankton.
Day one of the competition will be held at Fox Run, with day two taking place at Hillcrest. Tee time for both days is 10:00 AM.
The Yankton Quarterback Club will host their first meeting of the 2025-26 athletic season today at the River Rock Event Center in Yankton.
Yankton Bucks Football Coach will be the featured guest speaker. The event will begin at noon with a meal available for purchase. The public is invited to attend.
