The Mount Marty Lancers have been picked to finish 6th in the inaugural GPAC Football Coaches Poll of the 2025 season.
The Lancers are coming off the best season in the history of their young program, finishing above .500 with a 6-5 record, including a 5-5 mark in GPAC play, tying for the 5th best conference record.
Morningside was picked first in this year’s poll, followed by Northwestern in second. The Mustangs and Red Raiders were the only teams to receive first-place votes.
The Lancers open their 2025 campaign with a non-conference game against Clarke University on August 30th in Dubuque, Iowa. The full poll is available below.

The Tabor Bluebirds play their second game of the Class B Amateur Baseball State Tournament tonight against the Hartford-Humboldt Gamecocks.
Tabor, the District 6B Champions, advanced to tonight’s game with an 11-1 win over Wessington Springs on Saturday.
First pitch from Brandon is scheduled for 5:30 PM tonight.
The Freeman Black Sox will take on the Dell Rapids Mudcats tonight in their second game of the Class B Amateur Baseball State Tournament.
Freeman is coming off an emphatic victory over Burke on Sunday, winning 19-4 to advance to tonight’s game.
First pitch from Brandon is scheduled for 7:30 PM tonight.
Yankton High School will host a Fall Sports Kickoff tomorrow at the Yankton High School Commons.
Food will be served at 6:00, with Fall Sports coaches speaking at 6:30. There is no cost for admission, and the public is invited to attend.
The Fall sports season officially begins on Friday with Soccer and Gazelles’ Tennis. Opening events for all fall sports are available below.
YHS Fall Sports Openers:
- Bucks Football kicks off on Friday, August 29th, at Huron. Kickoff is set for 5:00 PM.
- Bucks and Gazelles Soccer begins on Friday, August 15th, at home against Rapid City Stevens. The Gazelles play first at 5:00 PM, with the Bucks to follow.
- Gazelles Volleyball begins on Tuesday, August 26th, with a home match against O’Gorman. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 PM.
- Gazelles Tennis will be in Pierre on Friday for a triangular. Yankton will face Pierre at 1:00 PM and Rapid City Central at 4:00 PM.
- Bucks and Gazelles Cross Country runs their first race on Thursday, August 28th at Pasley Park in Sioux Falls. The race begins at 4:00 PM
- Competitive Cheer and Dance has their first competition on Saturday, August 30th, at Aberdeen Central High School. Events begin at 10:00 AM.
