A Madison County jury on Thursday found Carrie Jones guilty of first-degree murder, evidence tampering and being an accessory.
Jones was charged with Gene Twiford’s murder under an aiding and abetting theory, as prosecutors alleged Jones pushed her husband, Jason Jones, to kill Twiford in response to inappropriate comments Twiford had made to Carrie Jones over a three-year period.
Jason Jones, 45, fatally shot Twiford, 86, and his wife, Janet Twiford, 85; their daughter, Dana Twiford, 55; and Michele Ebeling, 53, in the early-morning hours of Aug. 4, 2022, at two Laurel homes. He set both the Twiford and Ebeling houses on fire after shooting the victims.
Carrie Jones’s sentencing is set for is scheduled for November 20th.
