Yankton County is looking to make the county hiring freeze that they put into place in February a little clearer.
During Tuesday’s meeting, Commissioner Dan Klimisch proposed two clarifications, the first being that raises for county employees can only occur during the budgeting process.
Klimisch also proposed that all hires must be approved by the commission first.
The other four commissioners agreed with Klimisch’s proposal for hires to be approved by the commission, but disagreed with his proposal for raises.
The commission plans to take action on the matter at their next meeting.
