Yankton Post 12 punched their ticket to the Class A Legion Baseball State Tournament yesterday with a 12-0 win over Sturgis Post 33.

Matthew Sheldon led Post 12 at the plate. Sheldon finished the game 3 for 4 at the plate with six RBIs and a pair of runs scored. Beck Ryken pitched five innings for the win on the mound, striking out three batters and allowing only one hit. Kael Garry pitched the sixth and final inning, allowing no hits and striking out two batters.

Yankton swept Sturgis in their three-game series 2-0. They will compete in the Class A Legion Baseball State Tournament next week in Watertown. The official bracket will be released at the conclusion of the remaining first-round series.

Yankton native Miles Krajewski has advanced to the SH 6 Men’s Singles semifinals of the British and Irish International Badminton Tournament in Cardiff, Wales.

Krajewski ended group play 2-1 to finish 2nd in Group C to qualify for bracket play, before defeating Wong Chun Yim in the first round

Krajewski will face Paralympic gold medalist Charles Noakes in the semifinals this morning. The match is scheduled for 3:30 PM British Summer Time, 9:30 AM Central Time.

The Yankton Bucks Soccer team is hosting a car wash on Saturday to raise funds for the upcoming season.

The car wash will take place at TMA, located at 401 West 23rd Street in Yankton, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Free will donations are encouraged.

The Lesterville Broncs defeated the Crofton Blue Jays 10-7 last night in the first game of the District 6B Amateur Baseball Tournament.

Tyler Edler and Derek Quame each had two hits for the Broncs in the win. Crofton was led by Justin Potts, who recorded five RBIs in the loss.

Lesterville advances to a matchup with top-seeded Tabor on Tuesday, while Crofton falls into the losers’ bracket. Crofton’s next matchup will depend on the results of today’s games between Freeman and Irene, and Wynot and Menno.
