Yankton Post 12 Legion Baseball will host Sturgis this afternoon in game one of a best-of-three series.
Yankton is the #2 seed in Class A entering the postseason, holding a 14-5 record against Class A opponents this season, with 10 wins in their last 12 league games.
Sturgis enters the postseason as the #14 team with a 2-16 Class A record. Yankton and Sturgis did not play each other in the regular season.
The start time for tonight’s game has been adjusted slightly due to forecasted weather. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 PM. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 3:45 with Bryce Ladwig and Brayden Butler on the call.
Games two and three, if necessary, will be held on Thursday, beginning at 11:00 AM. Full first-round matchups in Class A are available below. The higher seed will host the lower seed in a best-of-three series.

- #3 Watertown is an automatic qualifier as this year’s hosts.

The Yankton Boys’ Golf Team will hold a preseason registration meeting tomorrow in room 235 of Yankton High School.
Boys entering grades 7-12 are eligible to attend. Those who can’t attend in person are asked to contact head coach Brett Sime at brett.sime@k12.sd.us.
The 2025 Bucks Golf season is scheduled to begin on August 18th with an invitational at Spearfish Canyon Golf Course.
The Yankton Bucks Soccer team is hosting a car wash on Saturday to raise funds for the upcoming season.
The car wash will take place at TMA, located at 401 West 23rd Street in Yankton, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
Free will donations are encouraged.
The District 6B Amateur Baseball tournament begins tomorrow in Wynot, with the Tabor Bluebirds earning the #1 seed.
Tabor finished the regular season 2nd in the South Central League with an 11-3 league record. Finishing only behind Yankton, who went undefeated.
Tabor will play their first game on July 29th. They will face the winner of tomorrow night’s matchup between #4 Lesterville and #5 Crofton.
The top four teams at the end of the tournament will represent District 6B in the Class B State Tournament in Brandon, August 6th through the 17th.
First-round matchups of the double-elimination tournament are available below. Remaining matchups will be determined based on the results of round one.
Thursday, July 24th:

Friday, July 25th:
- #3 Freeman vs #6 Irene.
