Yankton Post 12 Legion Baseball competed in the Gopher Classic over the weekend, finishing 2-3 in pool play.
Yankton played two games each on Friday and Saturday, defeating Waconia 5-3 and Eastview 16-1, while falling to New Prague 7-1 and Creighton Prep 9-1. Yankton’s final game came on Sunday, where they lost to St Michael Golds 12-0.
Sam Gokie and Easton Feser led Yankton over the five games, both hitting over .400, with Feser leading the team in hits with 7 and RBIs with five. Feser also picked up the win on the mound in one of Yankton’s games. Frankie Intveld was credited with the other victory.
Yankton returns home tomorrow for a doubleheader against Sioux Falls Post 15 East at Riverside Field. Yankton defeated Post 15 East earlier this year, 13-5, in the Lewis and Clark Classic Championship.
First pitch of game one is scheduled for 5:00 PM tomorrow, with game two to follow. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 4:15. Bryce Ladwig and Brayden Butler will be on the call.
Yankton Fury White are the 2025 Class B South Dakota Fast Pitch Softball 18u champions after defeating Black Hills Silencers 5-2 in the championship game.
Fury White was one of two teams who were undefeated after pool play. In bracket play, they defeated Venom 18u 11-2, Black Hills Silencers 9-8 in the quarterfinals, and Brookings Outlaws 3-0 in the semifinals, before facing Black Hills Silencers again in the championship game.
Also representing Yankton was SD Intensity. Intensity went undefeated in pool play before falling to Brookings 23-22 in the quarterfinals. They were then eliminated by Venom 18u in the consolation quarterfinals.
The Yankton Lakers remain undefeated atop the South Central Amateur Baseball League, following a 15-4 win over Crofton last night.
The win moves Yankton to 12-0 in league play this season, while Crofton falls to 4-9. Will Rauch led Yankton in the win, driving in four runs on a pair of hits.
Also in SCL play last night, Tabor swept Irene in their doubleheader, winning 16-2 and 16-2, and Lesterville fell to Menno in a close game, 10-9.
Lesterville will be in action again tonight for a matchup with Wynot that was originally scheduled for last Thursday. The final day of the league season is currently scheduled for this Thursday.
