The South Central Amateur Baseball League returns to action tomorrow night with three games on the schedule, including a matchup of the top two teams in the league standings.
The Yankton Lakers will travel to Tabor for a 1st vs 2nd matchup with the Tabor Bluebirds. Yankton is undefeated in league play this season, including a 10-4 win over the Bluebirds on June 1st. Tabor is 8-2 in league play, with their only other loss coming to Freeman this past weekend.
Freeman, fresh off their win over Tabor on Sunday, will host Menno tomorrow night. The two teams just squared off this past Saturday, with Freeman taking a 17-7 win over the Mad Frogs.
Lesterville will host Wynot tomorrow in the third game of the day. Wynot is currently 3rd in the SCL, with Lesterville in 5th. Wynot came out on top when the two teams met on May 29th, 14-4. Lesterville is coming off a loss last night in a non-league game, as they dropped a close game to Parkston 5-4.
All games are scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM tomorrow night.
The 2025 South Dakota Legion Baseball regular season officially ends on July 21st, and Yankton Post 12 is currently 4th in the standings with only four Class A games remaining, pending a potential makeup date with Brandon Valley.
Yankton is 11-5 in Class A play with 42.81 seed points. They are less than 0.1 seed points behind 3rd-place Sioux Falls East, and less than a full point behind 2nd-place Watertown.
As it stands, Yankton would host Aberdeen in an opening round series, with the winner advancing to the state tournament in Watertown, July 29th through August 2nd.
Yankton’s next Class A game is scheduled for July 15th against Sioux Falls East, as they are scheduled to compete in the Gopher Classic this weekend.

The University of South Dakota athletics department has announced that former Coyote swimmer Skyler Leverenz has been named the next Director of Video Production and Creative Content.
Leverenz began with the athletic department as a graduate assistant for marketing and creative content for the 2024-25 academic year, following a three-year swimming career as a Coyote.
In her career as a Coyote, Leverenz was a two-time Academic All-Summit League honoree. She was also the recipient of the Nelson Shield Award. Upon graduation, she was a member of three relay teams at South Dakota that hold the school record: 800-freestyle relay, 400-freestyle relay, and the 200-freestyle relay.
Leverenz earned her bachelor’s degree in 2024 with a degree in communications from USD. She also earned her master’s in sport management from USD in 2025.
