The South Central Amateur Baseball League will have six games over the next four days, starting tonight with Wynot traveling to Crofton.
Wynot is currently third in the SCL standings, four games behind first-place Yankton and three games clear of Crofton in sixth.
Wynot defeated Crofton when the two teams met earlier this year, 4-1. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 PM tonight in Crofton.
Also scheduled for this week, Menno will celebrate the Fourth of July with a home matchup against the Freeman Black Sox tomorrow.
On Saturday, Lesterville welcomes Tabor to town as the Broncs host the Bluebirds in a matchup of top-5 teams.
On Sunday, three games will be played between four teams. Freeman will host Tabor in a single game, while Irene and Crofton will play in a doubleheader.
With two weeks remaining in the South Central Amateur Baseball League season, the Yankton Lakers hold a 2.5 game lead over 2nd place Tabor with three league games left on the schedule.
Yankton and Tabor will play on July 10th. A Yankton win could put them over three games clear of Tabor heading into the last week of the season, while a Tabor victory would draw them to the Lakers’ heels down the stretch.
Yankton remained perfect in and out of league play last night with a 17-6 win over Vermillion. Yankton had twenty hits as a team, led by five from Will Rauch. Rauch had a home run and scored five runs as well.
Rounding out the South Central League standings, Wynot is currently 3rd with Lesterville 4th, Freeman 5th, Crofton 6th, Irene 7th, and Menno 8th.
Yankton Post 12 Legion Baseball returns from their extended break on Monday with a home doubleheader against Brandon Valley.
Yankton moved into 4th in Class A earlier this week, when one of their losses to Rapid City Post 22 was changed to a forfeit victory for Yankton due to a rule infraction.
First pitch of game one is set for 5:00 PM with game two to follow. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 4:15. Bryce Ladwig and Brayden Butler will be on the call.
With just a few weeks remaining in the South Dakota Class A Legion baseball season, the first-round playoff matchups are starting to take shape.
Rapid City Post 22 maintains the top spot in the class despite the recent result change for their game against Yankton. The current #2 seed in Watertown will not have a first round series, as they are automatically qualified for the state tournament as this year’s hosts.
Rounding out the remaining top eight seeds who would host an opening round series, Sioux Falls East is 3rd, Yankton is 4th, Renner is 5th, Brandon Valley is 6th, Huron is 7th, and Harrisburg Gold is 8th.
The current projected first-round playoff matchups are available below. Standings were last updated with games on the 30th of June.
