Mount Marty Women’s Basketball has announced an exhibition game against the University of Nebraska for the twenty-fourth of October in Lincoln, Nebraska.
The Lancers tallied a 12-16 record this past season, earning their most wins in a single year since the 2019-20 campaign.
Start time for the game and the rest of MMU’s 2025-26 schedule have not been announced at this time. The game will not count towards either team’s record for the season.
The University of South Dakota announced late last week that former men’s basketball standout Triston Simpson is returning to the program as a member of Eric Peterson’s coaching staff.
Simpson played from 2016 to 2020 at USD, scoring just under 1,200 points and helping the Coyotes win 81 games, including a 26-win season in 2017-18.
Simpson has made stops at several D1 institutions in his early coaching career, serving as a grad manager at the University of Nebraska and as a Special Assistant to the Head Coach for the University of Utah.
The Yankton Lakers remain undefeated in South Central League play after their 11-2 win over Lesterville on Sunday.
Mac Ryken led Yankton with four hits in the victory, with Will Rauch tallying three RBIs. Kieren Luellman struck out five Broncs batters for the win on the mound.
Ethan Wishon was perfect at the plate for Lesterville, finishing 3 for 3 with a pair of doubles. Michael Drotzmann was credited with the loss.
Yankton is now 12-0 on the season. They are scheduled to return to action today for a matchup with Wynot that was postponed earlier this season. Lesterville are off until this Saturday when they host the Tabor Bluebirds.
The Crofton Bluejays edged out the Menno Mad Frogs last night, 6 to 4, in a South Central League affair.
Colton Schieffer finished the day 2 for 2 at the plate to lead Crofton. Capp Bengston struck out six batters over seven innings for the win on the mound.
Trent Guthmiller, Tyler Miller, Connor Merriam, and Macon Oplinger all recorded a hit for the Mad Frogs, while Tom Sattler was handed the loss on the mound.
Both teams return to action later this week. Crofton will host Wynot on Thursday, while Menno welcomes Freeman to town on Friday.
The Wynot Expos picked up an 8-5 victory over the Freeman Black Sox last night in South Central League play.
Lee Heimes and Landon Wieseler combined for seven hits, including three doubles, in the win for Wynot. Carson Wielser was credited with the win, with Jaelen Wieseler earning the save.
Rocky Ammann led the Black Sox with three hits in the loss, followed by two hits from Colton Spader. Trey Ortmann took the loss for Freeman.
Freeman is off until their matchup with Mennon on Friday, while Wynot will host Yankton today in a make-up game.
Yankton Post 12 Legion Baseball is currently under an extended break during the Fourth of July holiday.
Yankton enters the break with an 18-8 overall record, including a 10-5 record against Class A opponents, putting them 5th in the latest standings.
Yankton’s first game back from break will be at Riverside Field on July 7th against Brandon Valley.
