The spillway gates were opened at Gavins Point Dam today.
The U-S Army Corps of Engineers says all 14 gates were opened approximately two feet each from 6:30 this morning through 3:30 in the afternoon.
The Corps says the river flow was diverted so that a remote submersible vehicle could inspect the intake and flow paths of the power plant as part of the dam’s regular maintenance.
The opened gates allowed a flow of approximately 27,000 cubic feet per second, which is the same rate the dam has been allowing the river to move through the power plant.
