The man facing charges in an officer involved shooting at the Yankton High School last December has had his trial delayed.
Andrew Jondahl, 40, of Watertown appeared in court Wednesday, along with his attorney Brent Matter, of Vermillion.
Jondahl’s trial was originally scheduled for July 21st, but Matter requested a Motion of Continuance in order to speak with additional witnesses, which was granted by Circuit Judge Cheryl Gehring.
With the motion being granted, Jondahl waived his right to a speedy trial within 180 days of his first court appearance.
His trial will now occur the week of January 26th, 2026.
Jondahl faces charges of four counts of Aggravated Assault Against Law Enforcement, two counts of Possessing a Loaded Firearm While Intoxicated, and one count of Possessing a Firearm or Weapon on School Premises.
Jondahl is next set to appear in court for a motion and change of plea hearing on December 3rd.
