A long-term plan to guide the City of Yankton’s growth and development through
2045 was officially adopted by city commissioners Monday night.
The Yankton Comprehensive Development Plan, which looks roughly 20 years into
the city’s future, was developed through a collaboration between city staff, citizen
input, and a contracted planning consultant. The ordinance passed after revisions
and public input shaped its final form.
Community Development Director, David Mingo, said the community feedback
made the adopted plan a strong fit for Yankton’s evolving needs.
Amy Haase, a consultant on the project, said the community input received helped
narrow down objectives into nine main categories.
Mingo says while the plan is adopted by ordinance, its role is to act as a guide .
The comprehensive plan, Ideas Flow Here – Yankton 2045, is available for the
public to view on the City of Yankton’s website.
