Yankton Post 12 Legion Baseball split their neutral site doubleheader against Rapid City Post 320 last night in Chamberlain.
Yankton lost game one 4-3. Gavin Johnson finished 2 for 4 at the plate with an RBI. Mark Kathol pitched the complete game for Yankton, striking out four batters in the loss.
Game two ended 2-1 in favor of Post 12. Matthew Sheldon and Tate Beste scored the lone runs of the game for Yankton. Beck Ryken struck out seven over six and two-thirds innings. Beste was credited with the save, throwing one pitch and recording one out.
Next up for Post 12 is the Dakota Classic this weekend. Thirty-six teams from six states and Canada will compete in the three-day event in Sioux Falls beginning on Friday.
The South Dakota Golf Association Junior Tour will be in Yankton today for a competition at Fox Run Golf Course. The event is scheduled to begin at 7:00 AM.
The South Central Amateur Baseball League returns to action today with three games on the schedule.
Wynot will be on the road against Tabor, Yankton is set to host Freeman, and Lesterville will travel to Menno.
All three games are scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM this evening.

University of South Dakota Head Women’s Soccer Coach Michael Thomas has announced the addition of Alyssa Granno to the Coyotes coaching staff for the 2025 season.
Granno joins USD after finishing her playing career at Regis University in Colorado. Granno was a midfielder for the Rangers, who finished 14-5-1 last season to finish third in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
