The woman set to face trial next month in charges connected to a quadruple homicide that occurred in Laurel, Nebraska in August of 2022 appeared in court on Thursday.
Carrie Jones, faces a charge of first-degree murder in the death of one of the four people murdered in the incident, Gene Twiford, 86.
Jones was represented by her attorneys, Doug and Nathan Stratton, while the state was represented by Corey O’Brien. Judge Bryan Meismer oversaw the proceedings.
During Jones’s appearance, several motions were discussed, including the state’s motions to eliminate statements that were made during the Jason Jones trial last September.
Jason, who is Carrie’s husband, was found guilty on four charges of first-degree murder during his trial.
The state also filed motions to include three additional exhibits of evidence, as well as additional witnesses.
The defense did not object to the additional witnesses, but did object to the motion for additional evidence.
Jones is set for trial July 28th in Madison County.
