The Yankton United Girls Soccer team took 1st place this past weekend in the U19 Division of the All-American Cup in Blaine, Minnesota.
United outscored their opponents 12 to 1 in the group stage, defeating Fusion FC and Twin Cities Rush.
During Bracket play, Yankton defeated Bemidji Extreme 3 to 1 in the semifinals and NSSA 08 Academy Black 3-1 in the finals.
Yankton’s High School soccer season is scheduled to begin on August 15th against Rapid City Stevens.
Yankton Post 12 Legion Baseball travels to Chamberlain tomorrow afternoon for a neutral-site doubleheader against the Rapid City Post 320 Stars.
Yankton holds a 10 and 2 overall record so far this season, including a 6-0 record this past weekend en route to the Lewis and Clark Classic Championship.
First pitch of game one is scheduled for 2:00 PM tomorrow afternoon, with game two to follow in Chamberlain.
The Yankton Lakers improved to 5 and 0 in South Central League play on Sunday with a 12 to 6 win over Wynot.
Mitch Gullikson was perfect at the plate, finishing 4 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs. Shugo Kondo added three hits for Yankton, while Kieren Luellman earned the win on the mound.
Devon Lammers led Wynot offensively, finishing 2 for 5 with a home run and four RBIs.
The Lakers’ next league game is scheduled for Thursday, as they host Freeman at Riverside Field. Wynot will also play on Thursday in a road matchup against Tabor.
Tyler Edler and Michael Drotzmann combined for 18 RBIs on Sunday as Lesterville defeated Crofton 25 to 2 in South Central League play.
Four of Drotzmann’s five hits were home runs for the Broncs. Edler recorded five hits as well, two of which were home runs. Alex Wagner struck out six batters over four innings for the win on the mound.
Ben and Zach Hegge, as well as Austin Gobel, all recorded a double in the loss for Crofton.
Lesterville will travel to Menno for their next league game on Thursday. Crofton returns to league play on Sunday with a road game against Wynot.
