Yankton Post 12 are the 2025 Lewis and Clark Legion Baseball Classic Champions, going a perfect 6-0 over the three-day event.

Yankton defeated Sioux Falls East in the championship game 13-5 in five innings. Owen Wishon had the biggest hit of the game with a three-run home run in the win. Easton Feser pitched the complete game on the mound.

Over their six games, Yankton outscored their opponents 56 to 21, averaging 9.3 runs per game while tallying a .353 batting average as a team.

Yankton travels to Chamberlain on Wednesday for a neutral-site doubleheader with Rapid City Post 320. First pitch of game one is set for 2:00 PM.

Four area softball teams wrapped up play in the Class A and B State Tournaments this past weekend in Sioux Falls.

Gayville-Volin earned the highest finish as the runners-up in Class B. The Raiders fell to top-seeded Deuel in the championship game 3 to 1. Maia Achen recorded the lone hit for Gayville-Volin, tallying an RBI single.

Also in Class B, Bon Homme defeated Avon in the 7th-place game 15 to 14 in a high-scoring affair. The Cavaliers were led by Taycee Ranek, who finished 3 for 4 with a home run and a pair of doubles. Avon was led by Macy Voigt with four hits, two doubles, and a home run. The Cavaliers placed 7th with the win while the Pirates placed 8th.

Vermillion ended the weekend 6th in Class A after a 2 to 1 loss to Madison on Saturday. Madigan Wallin notched a pair of hits in the loss, while Tanager pitcher Mya Halverson recorded eight strikeouts.

State Champions for all three classes were Sioux Falls Jefferson in Class AA, West Central in Class A, and Deuel in Class B.

Class AA (Sioux Falls, SD):

• State Championship: #3 Sioux Falls Washington lost to #4 Sioux Falls Jefferson 4-0.
• 3rd Place: #1 Sioux Falls Lincoln lost to #2 Harrisburg 15-1.
• 5th Place: #5 Brandon Valley lost to #6 Rapid City Stevens 7-6.
• 7th Place: #8 Sioux Falls Roosevelt defeated #10 O’Gorman 14-4.

Class A (Aberdeen, SD):

• State Championship: #1 West Central defeated #2 Tri-Valley 11-1.
• 3rd Place: #3 Dakota Valley lost to #4 Dell Rapids 8-0.
• 5th Place: #6 Madison defeated #8 Vermillion 2-1.
• 7th Place: #5 Sioux Valley lost to #7 Elk Point-Jefferson 9-6.

Class B (Aberdeen, SD):

• State Championship: #1 Deuel defeated #6 Gayville-Volin 3-1.
• 3rd Place: #4 Alcester-Hudson defeated #7 Mobridge-Pollock 4-1.
• 5th Place:#3 Castlewood lost to #5 Florence/Henry 10-7.
• 7th Place: #2 Bon Homme defeated #8 Avon 15-14.

South Central League Baseball Results (Sunday, June 8th):

• Yankton defeated Wynot 12 to 6 at Riverside Field.
• Menno’s matchup with Freeman was postponed.
• Lesterville defeated Crofton 25-2.
