Yesterday’s scheduled softball matchup between the Yankton Gazelles and the Tea Area Titans was postponed due to weather in the Yankton area.
The game will now be played on Friday at Sertoma Park. First pitch for the varsity game is scheduled for approximately 11:00 AM.
Following the game, the Gazelles will travel to Harrisburg for their season finale against the Tigers. First pitch against the Tigers is scheduled for 5:30 PM.
Yankton Bucks Tennis travels to Sioux Falls on Thursday for day one of the Class AA State Tournament.
Thursday’s matches will be split between Tomar Park, McKennan Park, and Lincoln High School, with action beginning at 8:00 AM.
All matches on Friday will be held at Tomar Park, beginning at 8:00 AM.
Several area events scheduled for yesterday and today have been adjusted due to storms in the area.
- The Parkston at Avon softball game, scheduled for Tuesday, will now be played in Yankton. Start time is now set for 1 p.m.
- The Parker at Scotland-Menno softball game, scheduled for Tuesday in Menno, has been moved to Scotland due to wet field conditions.
- The Vermillion Invitational girls’ golf tournament, scheduled for Monday, was cancelled.
- The Alcester-Hudson at Gayville-Volin softball game, scheduled for Monday, was cancelled.
- The softball event featuring Avon and Viborg-Hurley at Wagner, scheduled for Monday, was cancelled.
- The Vermillion at West Central softball game, scheduled for Monday, was cancelled.
Former Yankton Bucks Assistant Football coach Brandon Colpitts has stepped down as head coach of the Rapid City Central Cobblers after two seasons.
During Colpitts’ tenure, the Cobblers ended a 29-game losing streak and earned their first postseason appearance in six seasons.
Colpitts will remain with the program as a volunteer assistant as he transitions into a new position as the Riddell Football Sales Representative for the state of South Dakota, according to an announcement from Rapid City Central.
The Cobblers have already begun their search for a new head coach.
The Bloomfield Bees earned their spot in the Nebraska Class D Boys’ Golf State Tournament yesterday, finishing 2nd in the District D-2 tournament.
The Bees shot a 358 as a team. Junior Keaten Gilsdorf led Bloomfield individually, tying for 4th at 84. Kelson Loecker also cracked the top 10, tying for 10th with an 87.
The Nebraska Class D Boys’ Golf State Tournament will be held May 28th and 29th at Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus, Nebraska.
