Yankton Bucks Baseball has had the schedule for their Super Regional series against Brookings changed due to inclement weather in the area.
The first two games of the series will now be played tomorrow at Riverside Field, game one at 5:00 PM with game two to follow. Game three, if necessary, will be played on Monday, May 19th at 6:00 PM.
Coverage for all games begins forty-five minutes before first pitch on KYNT and KYNTV. Bryce Ladwig and Brayden Butler will be on the call.
No other Super Regional schedule changes have been announced at this time.
Class A Super Regional Bracket Schedule (High Seed Hosts):
- #1 Harrisburg vs #16 Sturgis at 6:00 PM.
- #2 Sioux Falls Lincoln vs #15 Tea Area at 6:00 PM.
- #3 O’Gorman vs #14 Aberdeen at 5:00 PM. Game two will follow, with game three of the series held on May 19th if necessary.
- #4 Sioux Falls Jefferson vs #13 Spearfiish at 6:00 PM.
- #5 Pierre vs #12 Watertown at 6:00 PM.
- #6 Yankton vs #11 Brookings at 5:00 PM Saturday. Game two will follow, with game three of the series held on May 19th if necessary.
- #7 Brandon Valley vs #10 Sioux Falls Roosevelt at 6:00 PM.
- #8 Rapid City Stevens vs #9 Mitchell at 8:00 PM Mountain.
Yankton Gazelles Softball has their final home game of the regular season on Monday, hosting Tea Area at Sertoma Park.
Yankton is 6 and 11 on the year following their 15 to 3 win over Beresford earlier this week. Tea Area enters with a 4 and 8 overall record.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 PM Monday evening.
Yankton Gazelles Golf was scheduled to travel to Mitchell today for an invitational, but that has been cancelled and will not be made up.
Next up for the Gazelles is an invitational in Brookings at the Brookings Country Club on Thursday, May 22nd.
Yankton Track and Field travels to Harrisburg on Saturday for the ESD Conference Meet.
The ESD Conference Meet will be the penultimate chance for Bucks and Gazelles athletes to qualify for the Class AA State Tournament, May 29th through the 31st in Sioux Falls.
Saturday’s action begins with field events at 10:00 AM. Running events are scheduled to begin at noon. The meet will be held at Harrisburg High School.
The Cedar Catholic Trojans are the District C-3 Boys’ Track and Field champions following yesterday’s competition in Ponca.
Braden Reifenrath led the Trojans, placing 1st in the 100 and 2nd in the 200. Reifenrath also anchored the 1st-place 400-meter relay team alongside Booker Hochstein, Cooper Hochstein, and Mason Baller.
On the girls’ side of the event, Annisten Wortmann took home 1st in four separate events for the Trojans, winning the 100-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles, the long jump, and as part of the 1600-meter relay team with Lauren Bernecker, Brynn Bernecker, and Kally Becker.
The Nebraska High School Track and Field State Tournament will be held May 23rd and 24th at Burke High School in Omaha.
The Tabor Bluebirds picked up an 8 to 0 win over Wynot last night in their South Central League season opener.
Six of Tabor’s runs came in the 6th inning. Matt Brown went 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs to lead the Bluebirds. Wynot was held to three hits as a team, two from Nolan Ostrand and one from Jalen Wieseler.
Chase Kortan struck out six batters in six innings of work for the win on the mound for Tabor.
