Ten Mount Marty Baseball players have received postseason honors from the GPAC, led by first-team All-Conference selections for Aidan Chang and Jalen Owens.
Chang led the Lancers with a .440 batting average, 46 RBIs, and 10 home runs. Owens set a new single-season steals record for MMU with 41, adding a .361 batting average and scoring 50 runs.
Pitcher Zach Hegge (Hag-ee) and infielder Daniel Vonnegut (Von-nu-gut) both earned second-team honors, with Will Gardner, Palmer Jacobs, Shugo Kondo, Ryan Bachman, Joe Gokie, and Slayder Watterson selected as honorable mentions.
Mount Marty finished their 2025 campaign 29-22 overall, 12-16 in GPAC play.
Kayleen Jacinto leads the postseason honorees for Mount Marty Softball, as she was named first-team All-GPAC yesterday.
Jacinto led the Lancers in batting average at .400, home runs with 6, and RBIs with 37. The junior outfielder also tied for the team high in doubles with 14.
Janeag Castro and McKenzie Gray were also honored by the GPAC, being selected as All-Conference honorable mentions.
Mount Marty finished the season with a 20-21 record, including a 10-12 mark in GPAC play. The Lancers tied for 7th in the GPAC in the regular season, but missed the GPAC Tournament due to a tiebreaker.
Yankton Bucks Tennis dropped both ends of their triangular in Sioux Falls yesterday, falling to Sioux Falls Lincoln 6-3 and losing to Sioux Falls Christian 8-1.
Harrison Krajewski won in singles against Lincoln, and Ethan Marsh and Patrick Kralicek won in doubles. The Bucks’ third point against the Patriots came due to injury default.
Luke Moelle took the lone point for the Bucks against the Chargers, defeating Elijah Lindgren in singles play.
Yankton travels to Brookings on Saturday to face Aberdeen Central and Huron as part of a quadrangular. Matches are scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM.
Yankton Gazelles Golf placed 2nd at a home event at Fox Run Golf Course yesterday, shooting 362 as a team.
Yankton’s Ellia Homstad tied for 3rd in the event at 80. Homstad was two strokes off the top spot. Also for Yankton, Sabrina Krajewski shot 86, Bailey Anderson finished at 96, and Lily Poeschl and Liv Thunker each shot 100.
Yankton is back at Fox Run on Friday, as over a dozen teams will compete in an invitational. Tee time is set for 10:00 AM with a shotgun start.
Yankton Track and Field hosts their annual First Dakota Relays tomorrow at Williams Field.
Athletes from ten different schools are scheduled to compete in the event. Field events begin with the Javelin at 11:30 AM. Running events are set to start at 1:30 PM.
South Dakota Men’s Basketball Coach Eric Peterson has announced the addition of Eastern Kentucky transfer Jordan Crawford as part of the 2025-26 recruiting class.
Crawford joins USD after playing in 30 games last season for EKU. He averaged 7.8 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game.
During his high school career, Crawford averaged 19.8 points per game in his senior season and was one of three finalists for the Charlotte Observer North Carolina Mr. Basketball Award.
