The GPAC Baseball Tournament begins this afternoon, and the Morningside Pod will be held in Yankton due to Morningside currently playing without a home stadium.
Morningside is the top seed at #2. Also in the pod will be #3 Doane and #6 Northwestern. Doane and Northwestern will play in game one, with Morningside and Mount Marty playing game two.
All games will be broadcast on KYNTV, with Mount Marty games also airing on KYNT. Game one is scheduled to begin at 3 PM, with game two set for 6.
Yankton Bucks Baseball recorded twenty-six runs over two games last night in a doubleheader sweep of Sioux Falls Washington.
Yankton won game one 12-2. Easton Feser (Feezer) finished 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBI at the plate. Beck Ryken struck out six over four innings for the win.
Game two ended 14-1 for the Bucks. Samuel Gokie went 3 for 3 with three RBI in the win. Boston Frick earned the victory on the mound, striking out six batters.
Yankton is on the road against Brandon Valley on Friday for their next slate of games. The Bucks are currently 15-3 on the season.
Yankton Gazelles Softball got back into the win column last night, defeating the Mitchell Kernels 14-8 in Mitchell.
Kyra Tjeerdsma recorded three hits and three RBI at the plate, while Daylee Hughes hit two home runs and struck out five batters in the circle.
Next up for the Gazelles is a makeup game from earlier this season against O’Gorman on Friday in Yankton.
Yankton Track and Field picked up forty-three top-3 finishes at yesterday’s meet in Mitchell, including sixteen event victories.
Connor Slaba led the Bucks, winning the boys’ 100, 200, and 400-meter races. Slaba was also part of the Bucks’ 1st place 1600 relay team alongside Evan Serck, Abe O’Brien, and Carson Ness. Tyan Beste led the Gazelles with wins in the 300-meter hurdles and the long jump.

Yankton Bucks Tennis celebrated Senior Day yesterday with a 9-0 sweep of Lennox at the YHS/SAC Tennis Courts.
Yankton would fall to Vermillion later in the day, 6-3. The Bucks varsity six did not compete against Vermillion.
Next up for the Bucks is a triangular in Brookings tomorrow, beginning at 10 AM.
The Mount Marty Lancers placed 8th as a team at the GPAC Women’s Golf Championships, which concluded yesterday in Cairo, Nebraska.
Kelsey Heath led the Lances with a three-round 242 to tie for 10th. Abigail Greenhoff also cracked the top 20, tying for 19th.
Doane claimed the team title with a 955, while Dakota Wesleyan Freshman and Mitchell High School alum Allison Meyerink earned the top spot individually, shooting 229 over three rounds.
Competing for Dordt in the event, Yankton native Jillian Eidsness finished 30th at 255.
Yankton Gazelles Golf placed 4th out of nine teams at yesterday’s Pierre Invitational in the state capital.
Ellia Homstad led the Gazelles, shooting 75 for the invite, tying for 4th individually. Yankton shot a 361 as a team.
Yankton plays Brandon Valley, Harrisburg, and O’Gorman in a quadrangular on Friday at Bakker Crossing Golf Course. Tee time is set for 11 AM.
