Yankton Bucks Basketball fell to the Pierre Governors in a tightly contested game last night, 49-47 in Yankton.
Yankton trailed Pierre by seven points at the halftime break. Head coach Chris Haynes said he challenged his team during the break, especially senior leaders.
The Bucks have over a week before their next games, traveling to Rapid City to take on RC Stevens on the 14th and RC Central on the 15th.
Mount Marty Men’s and Women’s Basketball will be on the road tonight in Hastings, Nebraska for a GPAC doubleheader against Hastings.
The Lancers split with the Broncos earlier this season when the two schools met in Yankton. The Lancers won the men’s game 72-47, but fell in the women’s game 75-60.
The women are set to play first at 5:00 PM with the men to follow. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 4:15. Tehl Tanner will be on the call.
Mount Marty University head track & field and cross country coach Dan Fitzsimmons and Yankton High School head track and field coach Geoff Gross will be the featured guest speakers at today’s Yankton Quarterback Club meeting.
Fitzsimmons is in year two at the helm for MMU, returning to Yankton after a successful tenure at the University of South Dakota. Fitzsimmon was the head track & field and cross country coach at Yankton High School. Prior to USD.
Gross is also in his second season for YHS, having previously coached at Mitchell and Pierre.
A meal will be available for purchase at 11:15 AM with the meeting scheduled to start at noon at the River Rock Event Center. The public is invited to attend.
A dozen Yankton High School student-athletes are scheduled to announce their collegiate signings this afternoon at Yankton High School.

South Dakota Coyotes Women’s Basketball star Grace Larkins earned national recognition again yesterday, as she was one of nearly 70 college seniors named to the College All-Star Game Watch List presented by Herbalife.
The Women’s College All-Star Game made a return in 2024, with this year’s event being held in Tampa, Florida on April 5th. In total 20 of the best seniors in the country will be selected for the event.
Larkins and the Coyotes return to the hardwood tomorrow night, hosting Oral Roberts inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM.
South Dakota Coyotes Men’s Basketball is on the road tomorrow night, taking on the Denver Pioneers in Denver, Colorado.
USD is 13-10 on the year, 4-4 in conference play, coming off their 91-87 win over Omaha last week. Denver enters the contest at 8-16 overall, 2-7 in Summit League play.
Tip-off from Denver is set for 8:00 PM central/7:00 PM mountain tomorrow night.
South Dakota State Men’s Basketball returns home for the first time in nearly two weeks tomorrow night, hosting St. Thomas in Brookings.
The Jackrabbits look to bounce back after their 80-75 loss to North Dakota last weekend. SDSU had won five straight prior to their loss.
Tip-off from First Bank & Trust Arena is set for 7:00 PM Thursday evening.
South Dakota State Women’s Basketball looks to capture their tenth straight win tonight, taking on North Dakota in Grand Forks.
The Jackrabbits are 19-3 overall this season, having won nine straight and sixteen of their last seventeen games.
